Chris Coons Tries to Play Games With Martha MacCallum Over Government Waste, Fraud. Any Guesses Who Won?

In this episode of "Democrats Gonna Democrat"...

Let's just go bottom line: Weaselly Delaware Democrat Senator Chris Coons tried to play the "It's not that bad" game, about the massive government waste, fraud, and abuse that Elon Musk and his DOGE team continue to uncover daily with Fox News host Martha MacCallum on Wednesday.

Spoiler: Martha wasn't having any of it.

Let's just say Coons and his deflections, obfuscations, and outright lies were dead in the water before the smug senator's argument began. After all, MacCallum is a seasoned veteran not known for taking crap from anyone — on either side of the aisle.

Was it pretty? Not if you're a Democrat.

MacCallum kicked off the festivities by asking Coons a legitimate newsworthy question.

Were you as shocked as I was when you heard some of those numbers — some of that information about how much fraud is happening in Social Security, senator?

Coons went full-metal Coons, right out of the gate.

So, Martha, not only do I not believe some of what was shared ...  but the Trump administration's acting administrator of Social Security has said that less than one tenth of one percent of the payments put out by the Social Security Administration are fraudulent or in error.

Let's be clear about some of things that were just played. There are people whose names are on the roll as having been born 150 or 200 years ago. They're not receiving Social Security payments. So—

MacCallum cut Coons off, saying: "I don't think that's true in every case at all."

As Coons continued to interrupt, MacCallum finally allowed him to continue:

Part of why I'm alarmed about Elon Musk and DOGE — they're getting into the systems and they're getting the access of individual information of millions of millions of Americans, and Elon Musk has made it clear that he thinks Social Security is a Ponzi scheme. A Ponzi scheme is itself fraudulent — fake, criminal, or illegal. I don't think Social Security is a Ponzi scheme.

Let's stop the tape for a minute.

"Ponzi scheme" — a fraudulent investment scam where returns to early investors are paid from the money of new investors rather than from actual profits generated by the scheme — was an unfortunate and incorrect term for Musk to use to describe Social Security.

Then again, social media keyboard jockeys continue to post unfortunate and incorrect memes declaring (usually with caps lock key on 42 exclamation points, which I'll shorten): "Social Security is our money. We paid into it. It is not an entitlement program."

Unfortunately, totally false.

Social Security taxes (part of payroll taxes deducted by employers from W-2 employees' paychecks) fund the benefits of qualified retirees and disabled people. It is by definition a transfer system. And it is indeed an entitlement program, which simply means that those who are qualified for benefits are entitled to receive them.

Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on one's point of view, totally correct.

Anyway, Coons continued to stonewall as MacCallum grew increasingly frustrated — before finally succeeding in cutting him off, and responding:

You sound like you're pretty OK with all the agencies and how they function. So you don't care about the millions of people who are going to never get it (Social Security) because it will be insolvent in 10 years.

What have Democrats done — What did Joe Biden's administration do — to find the waste, fraud, and abuse in Social Security? To to try to shore up this important agency? What did they do?

Coons continue to play the "It's no big deal" game about the agency's waste, fraud, and abuse, while MacCallum rolled her eyes and shook her head, finally saying:

You can't just put your fingers in your ear and going 'blah blah blah, it's not happening!

Which unfortunately —but totally expected — was what Coons did throughout the interview, which is exactly what the Democrat Party has done for years.

And now that Trump's back in White House, now that he's created DOGE, and now that he has the services of a genius who manages a team of other geniuses, all whom possess the knowledge (and algorithms) to expose waste, fraud, and abuse, some of which the Democrats themselves likely don't even know exists, Democrats just can't cope.

That said, of course Coons and his Democrat comrades are — and have been for years — knowledgable about massive waste and fraud, which is exactly why the smug senator from Delaware tried to stonewall Martha MacCallum — and she was having zero of it.

Elon Musk and DOGE are bringing much-needed accountability to our out-of-control bureaucracy as they take a chainsaw to rampant waste, fraud, and abuse.
