MSNBC's Joy Reid Thinks You're Stupid, America—Claims DEI Is About Helping 'Disabled Veterans'

Townhall Media

Articles about left-wing media nonsense (bald-faced lying) like this almost write themselves.

MSNBC's smug, race-obsessed host Joy Reid on Thursday pushed the absurd, laugh-out-loud notion that DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) isn't what you know it's about

Pitting one group against another, from black Americans and white Americans to the LGBTQ crowd, preferred-pronoun nonsense, men using women's bathrooms, and tampons in men's bathrooms, that's not at all what DEI is about, so get that hateful idea out your hateful head.

Nope, according to Reid and her guest on "The ReidOut," National President of the American Federation of Government Employees Everett Kelley, DEI is primarily about helping America's disabled veterans. Who knew?

In reaction to President Trump's executive order to close DEI offices across the federal government, Reid mused:

This memo, we can put it up on screen, and it went to all heads and acting heads of departments and agencies, shuttering DEI offices and other things. What is the union's response going to be?

Spoiler: It doesn't matter what the union thinks about Trump's order, one way or another.

Kelly then trotted out the "disabled veterans" absurdity (emphasis, mine).

We have an obligation to educate the public as to what DEI really is because, number one, it's not affirmative action as some might think.

DEI is about making sure that, say, a veteran may have a handicap, an injury from the services, and come to work for the federal government

DEI would make sure that that veteran has the, I guess, I would say the opportunity to work in a job, and they were placed in a position where they could accommodate that veteran and so that they can do their job

So, DEI is about that and about providing services for workers. It's not about the color of a person's skin.  It's about disabled veterans being accommodated. It's veterans returning from wars are also under DEI.

Let me know when you've stopped laughing, and we'll continue.

The left, including the Democrat Party, has spent years claiming DEI is about "fixing" so-called "systemic racism," overcoming “unconscious bias,” unfair treatment of the LGBTQ community, and "misgendering" — also ridiculously referred to as "misappropriation of pronouns."

Yet Reid and her guest now expect us to believe that DEI is mostly a patriotic program to help those who were injured in the service of their country, which is demonstrably untrue. But here's the thing: as is the case with all bilge spewed by the left, they don't care if we believe it; they only care if low-information rank-and-file Democrat voters believe it.

Reid responded predictably to Kelly's nonsensical claim:

And it's not a quota program. Let's just be clear. ...  They believe DEI just means black people getting jobs, and so when they see a black person in any job, they say, “Oh, that person's a DEI hire.” They said it about the literal elected vice president of the United States.

She wasn't hired. She was hired by the American people. Eighty million Americans voted and voted for her, but they can't see through her race and gender. So, it isn't just about hiring black people and women, right?

Wrong, Joyless. Biden all but promised to pick a black woman as his running mate before he selected Harris in late April 2020, after more than 200 black women who, as leaders and activists in the Democrat Party, signed an open letter to the presumptive Democratic nominee, calling on him to select a black woman running mate.

Interesting, isn't it, why MSNBC continues to tolerate Reid's nonsense. You don't suppose any of the higher-ups actually agree with her, do you?
