In yet another example of how far climate fanatics will go to embarrass themselves in their quixotic quest to force the world's governments to ban fossil fuels, radicals from the "Just Stop Oil" collective defaced Charles Darwin’s grave on Monday, claiming that humanity will face "mass extinction" if the planet doesn't adapt to and fight the supposed climate crisis.
Members of the group used orange spray paint to deface the memorial in Westminster Abbey of Darwin, the "father of evolution," who is widely recognized for his theory of evolution by natural selection, which detailed the process of how the earth's species change over time.
The activists spray-painted "1.5 is dead" on the memorial, a reference to the 2015 Paris Agreement, which called on governments to prevent the world from increasing temperatures beyond 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Here's how the "Just Stop the Oil" website reported the event in a Monday press release:
Two Just Stop Oil supporters have painted Charles Darwin’s grave to demand that the UK government works with others to phase out the extraction and burning of fossil fuels by 2030.
At around 10:00 this morning, two Just Stop Oil supporters entered Westminster Abbey and proceeded to use spray chalk to write "1.5 Is Dead" on Charles Darwin’s grave. This was referencing the news on Friday that the world has exceeded the "safe" 1.5 degree warming limit agreed by world leaders in Paris in 2015.
According to the press release, the activists could be heard saying:
2024 was the hottest year on record. We have passed the 1.5 degree threshold that was supposed to keep us safe. Millions are being displaced, California is on fire and we have lost three quarters of all wildlife since the 1970’s.
Darwin would be turning in his grave to know we are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction. The government’s plans will take us to over 3 degrees of warming. This will destroy everything we love. World leaders must stop burning oil, gas and coal by 2030.
Rhetorical question:
How many times have we been told by the likes of Al Gore, John Kerry, Joe Biden, and the little climate scold Greta Thunberg that the world as we know it was going to end in the next 10 minutes, only to have the facts bely the unsubstantiated hyperbole?
Unsurprisingly, the group also attributed the raging wildfires in Los Angeles County to climate change.
Today’s action comes as the death toll rises to 24 in California, as fires continue to rip across the state. The fires have been driven by climate breakdown after decades of drought, followed by rapid swings between extreme wet and dry conditions in the past two years. This has created large areas of ‘tinder dry’ vegetation, creating the perfect conditions for uncontrollable wildfires.
Not to nitpick, but even California liberals are turning on buck-passing California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom and woefully inept Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for their actions — and lack thereof — with respect to fire prevention and containment.

While the left has long hailed Charles Darwin for his theories on evolution, "Just Stop Oil" is not the only leftist group to target the 19th-century English naturalist in recent years.
In 2020, for example, Britain’s Natural History Museum said that following pressure from the international Marxist Black Lives Matter movement, it decided to review supposedly offensive items in its collection, including specimens obtained by Darwin from the Galapagos Islands.
Raise your hand if you think BLM gives a hoot about exotic birds in the Galapagos Islands, much less knows anything about the Galapagos Islands.

At the time, a museum curator reportedly claimed the exhibits presented “colonialist scientific expeditions.”
A Word About 'Natural Selection' and 'Survival of the Fittest'

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
It's intentionally stupid (low information) people who should worry. Imagine what would happen to humanity if these people controlled the world. That would make Charles Darwin roll over in his grave.
