Fed-Up Residents in CA City Demand Gavin Newsom Provide More Police to Combat Runaway Crime

Residents in yet another California Bay Area city are not only fed up with runaway violent crime; they're also distressed over the all-too-common, inexcusable shortage of police officers to effectively combat it.

Drug crime, shootings, shoplifting, and other crimes have made life in the enclave of Vallejo much more dangerous, resident Paula Conley told Fox News.

Conley and other Vallejo residents posted a petition on Change.org urging Gov. Gavin Newsom to deploy California Highway Patrol officers (CHP) to their city in similar fashion to his deployment of CHP to Oakland earlier in 2024 to address a crime surge there.

Conley additionally told Fox:

"We started seeing their (crime) statistics go down and their quality of life get better and getting a better handle on crime," Conley told Fox News Digital. "We have the exact same problems Oakland does, but we're just a smaller city. It's going to take manpower to really help us.

"We're not asking for it lightly. This has just been a crisis situation for a very long time. Our leadership still has no urgency in handling it and at some point, somebody has to help us," she added.

This is unfathomable to me as a resident of a far suburb of a Midwestern city.

Call me crazy, but shouldn't it be relevant government and law enforcement agencies themselves that proactively make such decisions before residents demand them?

While the number one priority of any government leader should be the protection and well-being of the people in the area he or she governs, Newsom's left-wing policies have led to anything but.

In fact, a sound argument can be made that the all-too-arrogant governor is far more concerned with promoting himself (that, and making sure his hair looks "just right" before he rushes to another TV camera), not to mention continuing to import as many illegal aliens into the no-longer-Golden State as he can get away with.

As reported by Politico on Christmas Eve, Newsom and his team are considering an illegal alien support plan to combat President-elect Donald Trump's planned mass deportations.

Gavin Newsom’s administration is drafting a potential plan to help undocumented immigrants who may be threatened by incoming President Donald Trump’s mass deportation threats, including resources to find legal aid.

A draft of the plan obtained by Politico and titled “Immigrant Support Network Concept” proposes the “creation of an Immigrant Support Network comprised of regional ‘hubs’ to connect at-risk individuals, their families, and communities with community systems — such as legal services, schools, labor unions, local governments, etc.”

In classic Newsom fashion, while the governor acknowledged the request for a CHP presence in Vallejo, he also passed the buck, saying that city leaders are ultimately responsible for addressing their police staffing woes.

I just want the folks in Vallejo to know you’re not getting the CHP to do the work of local law enforcement,. They think somehow, 'Well, the state's going to come in and provide this support for free'. They have a lot of vacant positions… ... and instead of contracting, for example, with the sheriff’s office and the county, they’re hoping to get the state to do it for free. We’re not going to be in that business.

I'm hardly an expert on the specific issue in Vallejo and other affected California enclaves, but in my mind, Newsom's smug response roughly translates to: "Look, even though my left-wing soft-on-crime policies and open-arms policy of importing as many illegal aliens as I can have exacerbated the level of crime in your city, it's on you to deal with the issues I helped to create."

Gavin Newsom Doubles Down on Stupid in Response to Trump Victory

A couple of thoughts here.

If you're a left-winger in California, congratulations: play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

But if you're unfortunate enough to be a conservative who lives in or is anywhere near an area of out-of-control crime, I understand that Texas and Florida are nice this time (any time) of year.
