MSNBC's Joy Reid Disgustingly Uses Deadly New Orleans Terrorist Attack to Blame 'American Violence'

Townhall Media

MSNBC's Joy Reid did on Thursday what Joy Reid always does after an incredible act of violence in America; she blamed everyone except the alleged attacker — including America.

On Thursday's disgusting episode of "The ReidOut," the ever-bitter host exploited the Bourbon Street terrorist attack in New Orleans as only she can.

We begin tonight with what should be a happy new year but instead, it’s a tragic one marred by violence and death. 14 people were killed and more than 30 injured, when a 42-year-old U.S. citizen and Army veteran from Texas rammed a pickup truck into a crowd during new year’s celebrations on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

Let's analyze that absurd second sentence from the perspective of intent.

Was the intent to accurately and fully describe the suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, for MSNBC viewers, or was it to emphasize that Jabbar was an American citizen and Army veteran? (Pick "b.") Were it the intent of Reid and MSNBC to accurately describe the details, the sentence would have read something like: "... Jabbar, a 42-year-old radicalized Muslim who had previously sworn allegiance to the terrorist group ISIS on multiple occasions... "

Reid's next intent was to personalize Jabbar's victims in a sick effort to further show the evils of "American violence."

Another 18-year-old and high school graduate was also killed, according to her mother this was an act of terrorism, and now my baby is gone. Don’t go anywhere. It’s a line that underscores the seemingly endless age of American violence. These victims, young, diverse, full of promise, out with friends as they should be on New Years Eve, represent the America we should have.

Beyond disgusting.

Reid would have all of America believe a radicalized Islamist who swore allegiance to ISIS in both writings and YouTube videos mauled down dozens of happy New Year's Eve celebrators because of "American violence." It's not only disgusting and unconscionable; it's also irresponsible and unjustifiable.

And shame on MSNBC for continuing to allow this bitter woman to spew her hateful anti-American rhetoric — much of it blatantly racist — on a daily basis.

Reid continued to spew her bitter bile.

This is how America rings in a new year. And there is nothing happy about it. In the wake of the New Orleans attack, the Sugar Bowl was postponed and rescheduled for today. Notre Dame and Georgia faced off this afternoon in the college football quarterfinal. The flags outside the Superdome flew at half staff.

How quickly life goes on because life must go on. But also were those spectators and workers safe? The thing is, crime is actually down in America year over year. But it doesn’t feel safe in this, the most violent non-war-torn country on earth. We’re frankly terrorized, numb and terrorized at the same damn time.

No, Ms. Reid, this is not how America rings in a new year. This is how evil people intent on doing evil things — this evil person, a radicalized Muslim — ring in a new year.

And please with the "most violent non-war-torn country on Earth" bilge that you so love to spew. Where so? Chicago's Southside? Similar areas in St. Louis, Detroit, Baltimore, Houston, Memphis, and beyond? And not to further nitpick, but what do each of these areas (and others like them across America) have in common?

I got this one: Democrat-dominated city governments, non-nuclear and disjointed families, violent gangs, ghost guns galore, and a depth of hopelessness unshared in most of the country.

The Bottom Line

Leftist political hacks are a dime a dozen, be they on CNN or MSNBC, or the staffs of untold numbers of left-wing rags across this great country. But Joy Reid is of a special ilk.

Reid's blatant racism, disdain for a country that has afforded her the opportunity to acquire wealth while spewing bitterness, hatred, and overall smugness is beyond the bounds of decency.
