I've never started an article with: "Any questions?"
In this case, I could have — given the encapsulation of Charlamagne tha God's view of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in this story. Before we begin, I have a relative confession.
I know next to nothing about Charlamagne's political positions. Moreover, I don't care what they are.
What I do care about — make that, respect — is the popular radio show host's courage to step up and say what he thinks, regardless of who likes it or who doesn't, with little regard if any for whatever consequences might follow. Incidentally, there are untold numbers of people on both sides of the political aisle who lack the quality — some of whom participate in intra-party circular firing squads to the point of ridiculousness.
On Wednesday's episode of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," Charlamagne ripped into the left's DEI Initiative from a simple perspective: Is the divisive program achieving its stated goals?
The truth about DEI is that although it's well-intentioned, it's mostly garbage. It's kinda like the black "Little Mermaid." Just because racists hate it doesn't mean it's good. And you know I'm right because every one of you has sat through one of those diversity training sessions, and thought: "This is bulls**t."
And it's not just you. Over 900 studies have shown that DEI programs don't make the workplace better for minorities. In fact, it can actually make things worse because of the backlash effect.
While I'm confident that the "backlash effect" occurs, I'd bet a dollar that a sense of entitlement also exists in some people after attending DEI training sessions, as well.

Charlamagne then touched on D.A.R.E. — Drug Abuse Resistance Education — programs in public schools, which were designed to stop the use of controlled or illegal drugs, membership in gangs, and violent behavior.
Remember D.A.R.E. from school? DEI training is like D.A.R.E. for racism, and you all know how effective that was. I was sitting there going "Oh, sh*t! There's [sic] a ton of fun drugs out there to try!
But the biggest failure of DEI is that the number of black people in power at big companies is basically the same as it was five years ago. In fact, maybe the only thing that DEI has accomplished is giving racist white people cover to be openly racist.
Again, I'm less interested in Charlamagne's political views than his courage to touch the holy third rail of the left — the fallacy of DEI. He concluded his DEI commentary by saying:
Real DEI is only going to come from black leadership. I don't know how to do it because I'm not a black leader, but I do know how to tell if it's working. Just keep an eye on right-wing media; the more they're freaking out, the more progress we're making.
With due respect, keep an eye on left-wing media; the more they freak out, the more the race-hustling business is failing them — and black America, as well.
