Imagine a world in which millions of people are willingly allowed to easily invade a country in violation of federal law, only to be handed benefits and preferences by the country’s government that exceed the benefits available to the vast majority of that country’s citizens. Sounds insane, right? Because it would be.
Correction: Because it is.
Starting January 1st, 2024, Illinois landlords will be required to rent or sell property to illegal aliens. Illinois Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed SB 1817 into law in late June, which will add “protections in the Illinois Human Rights Act for housing regarding immigration status protection and discriminatory advertising.”
Did I mention that Illinois also passed legislation, which Pritzker also gleefully signed into law, extending standard driver’s license privileges to illegal aliens? Yeah, I know; you’re shocked and amazed.
Pritzker said in a statement:
This legislation is a significant step in eliminating the barriers to opportunity that many undocumented immigrants face. We’re ensuring every eligible individual can obtain a driver’s license, making our roads safer, decreasing stigma, and creating more equitable systems for all.
And there’s that word again, gang: equitable.
“Equity“ is the left’s fundamental go-to excuse for doing its damnedest to destroy America as we know (knew?) it. From rewriting U.S. history to tearing down statues and renaming buildings to turning the wisdom of Martin Luther King Jr. on its head to pushing irreversible mutilation of children’s bodies under the sick guise of “gender-affirming care,” the left wants nothing less than a fundamental transformation of America into a dystopian society in which wrong becomes right, and right becomes wrong. That is not an overstatement of the radical left’s ultimate goal.
Anyway, Illinois Democrat State Sen. Ann Gillespie led the effort to expand housing rights to illegal aliens, absurdly claiming that the bill will ensure that illegals aren’t “unjustly denied housing.”
This law sets clear boundaries, protecting the rights of immigrants and ensuring that financial institutions and service providers cannot engage in discriminatory practices. By making this change, we are breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for immigrants to establish homes and contribute to our communities.
And here’s my favorite part: “Someone’s background should not disqualify them from buying or renting property.” There are all kinds of problems with that ridiculous statement, from legal issues to credit-risk issues to existing property values and beyond.
The dirty little non-secret secret is this: If Democrats thought the majority of illegal aliens would vote Republican if ever given the right to vote, every Democrat politician in the country would rush to the southern border, lock arms, and form a human chain from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico in a frantic effort to keep them the hell out of the country.
A hyperbolic statement? Yes. A valid point? You bet.
