Trump Trolls Biden With Hot Tip Prior to Summit With Putin

Say what you want about Donald Trump — and God knows that’s happened from all sides from the moment he and Melania rode down the escalator in Trump Tower in June 2015 to announce his candidacy — but there ain’t nobody who trolls like “The Donald.”

Such was the case on Thursday when the former president issued a statement in which he offered some advice to the current occupant of the White House prior to the latter’s upcoming summit with Russian strongman Vladimir Putin.

The two leaders are set to hold their June 16 summit in an 18th-century Swiss villa overlooking Lake Geneva, for what promises to be heated talks.

During Biden’s mumbling comments to U.S. Air Force personnel stationed in the U.K. on Wednesday, Biden went all Barney Fife about the upcoming summit, saying he’s going to “meet with Mr. Putin — to let him know what I want him to know.” Uh-huh, Joe. I’m pretty sure “Mr. Putin” is going to let you know what he wants you to know, as well.

Time pushed Biden’s “tough guy” narrative on Friday, How Biden Plans to Get Tough On Vladimir Putin in Their Geneva Summit [ROTFL emoji]:

Biden is preparing to get tough when he sits down in Geneva with Putin for the first time as President. Among the moves he and his team have weighed to show he means business: reminding Putin that the U.S. has its own cyberabilities and can target Putin’s personal overseas fortunes.

Biden hopes to amplify both threats by speaking for U.S. allies as well, and to back Putin down from these provocations. “The whole goal is to have [Putin] come away saying, ‘The Americans are onto us and have us encircled,’” the official says.

Got it. Lemme know how that all works out, Joe.

Anyway, with Biden now on the international stage, Trump shared some thoughts — along with a #ProTip for Joe. Excerpts from his Thursday statement:

As President, I had a great and very productive meeting in Helsinki, Finland, with President Putin of Russia. Despite the belated Fake News portrayal of the meeting, the United States won much, including the respect of President Putin and Russia. Because of the phony Russia hoax … the United States was put at a disadvantage that was nevertheless overcome by me.

As Trump closed the statement, he wished Biden well — with a major-league troll thrown in precisely at the right spot.

Good luck to Biden in dealing with Putin — don’t fall asleep during the meeting, and please give him my warmest regards!”

[Trump drops mic, walks off stage, grinning, ear-to-ear.]
