'Migrants' Stuck at Mexico Border Are Getting Cranky, Joe: 'Biden Promised Us!'

“On Mexico’s border with U.S., desperation as migrant traffic piles up.” So reads the headline of an article in The New York Times on Sunday, as Biden’s “not a crisis” crisis continues to compound. Worse, illegal-alien-wannabes continue to hold Biden accountable for his campaign promises to all but erect northbound people movers all along the border.

Exacerbating the crisis, as The Times reported, Mexico is now struggling to deal with a new wave of “migrants” expelled from the U.S. while even more come north hoping to cross. Shelters that were empty four months ago are now having to turn many away.

Who knew?

In a perfect example of “who didn’t see this coming?”, migrants’ hopes have been raised by human smugglers who assure them Biden will welcome them to America with open arms.

As Fox News reported on Monday, migrant camps of dozens or hundreds of people litter the border — either waiting to enter the U.S. or being just turned back to Mexico.

New York Times reporters witnessed a number of incidents where migrants were turned away from the border. Most were in tears, according to The Times, with some saying, “Biden promised us!” as they returned to Mexico. Circle-Back Psaki can spin it any way she wants to; this is a perfect example of perception trumping facts. [Pun perhaps intended.]

Did Biden literally promise to allow every migrant who shows up at the border to “come on in!”? No. Have his repeated campaign promises, and actions during his first 54 days in office suggested he would welcome them with open arms? Hell yeah, they have.

“Biden promised us that everything was going to change,” Gladys Oneida Pérez Cruz, a woman traveling with her son, told the Times. “He hasn’t done it yet, but he is going to be a good president for migrants.” Cruz paid a coyote $9,000 for her trip.

Perception, Joe, perception. Own it.

Setting aside the larger issue for a moment, these are real people. People who find themselves in a situation, not of their own making. Not this time, at least. Via The Times:

Near the crossing with El Paso, Texas, a group of mothers and fathers clutching their children were sobbing as they walked back into Mexico from the United States on Saturday.

[…]

Enrique Valenzuela, a coordinator for the Mexican government’s migration efforts in Chihuahua State, knew that if he couldn’t get to them to offer help, organized crime networks who prey on migrants’ desperation to extort or kidnap them for ransom probably would.

The migrants — nine adults and 10 children — wiped their tears as Mr. Valenzuela drew near. The moment was one of several such scenes of despair and confusion witnessed by New York Times journalists at the border over three days.

“The border is closed,” Mr. Valenzuela said. “Come with me, I will help.” He led the group to his office near the rusty border wall that separates El Paso from Ciudad Juárez …

Jenny Contreras, a 19-year-old Guatemalan mother of a 3-year-old girl, collapsed in a seat as Mr. Valenzuela handed out hand sanitizer.

“I did not make it,” she sobbed into the phone as she spoke with her husband, a butcher in Chicago.

“Biden promised us!” wailed another woman.

According to The Times, many of the migrants said they had spent their life savings and gone into debt to pay coyotes — human smugglers — who had promised them that the border was open after Biden’s election.

Still, the migrants keep coming, The Times said, and many officials believe the numbers could be bigger than those seen in recent years —  after the pandemic and recent natural disasters in Central America destroyed their livelihoods.

Yet, as Fox News noted, a Biden executive order ended the Migrant Protection Protocols, which kept migrants south of the border while waiting for their hearings and narrowed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s priorities for arrests and deportations.

On you, Joe. All of it.

As I reported on Sunday, despicable Nancy Pelosi being despicable Nancy Pelosi, Madam Speaker predictably blamed the crisis she and her Democrat comrades refuse to acknowledge as such, on Donald Trump. Yeah, me too — shocked beyond reality.

Here’s a snippet from a video — embedded in the article — of Pelosi’s blame-game, during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week with Stephie Stephanopoulos”:

“The facts are these: there are more children. About 600, 700 more children, unaccompanied children, coming over the border.

“This is a humanitarian challenge to all of us.

“What the administration has inherited is a broken system at the border, and they are working to correct that in the children’s interest.”

Just another example of the Democrats’ penchant for blaming everything they screw up on a prior Republican administration — which is exactly what Barack Obama continued to try to get away with, long after the “statute of limitations” on blaming George W. Bush for anything and everything had expired.

The New York Times piece is well done, in the respect of illustrations of real-life situations for real people who have, in many of their minds, been promised by Biden the greatest opportunity of their lives. And he let them down. Of course, illegal aliens should be stopped from streaming across the border; that goes with saying.

But, Joe? One more time. This entire crisis is on you.

Despite despicable Nancy Pelosi’s politically-expedient protestations to the contrary.
