In this episode of “The Most Trusted Name in News,” “CNN Tonight” anchor Don Lemon busts out another example of the critically-acclaimed journalisming for which he’s known.
As the “mainstream” media continues its ridiculous fixation over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and their “explosive” interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which the Duchess of Sussex accused Buckingham Palace of “racism” when she suggested someone in the palace was overly concerned about “how dark your baby [Archie] is going to be.” Harry backed up his wife and then some — but neither would name the “racist(s).”
The couple has been both praised and skewered over the interview. As we reported earlier, among those doing the skewering was Piers Morgan, erstwhile CNN host, and current co-host of “Good Morning Britain.” As Morgan was just warming up, he said:
“Here we had the Duke and Duchess of Privacy flinging out the filthy family laundry for the delectation of tens of millions of people all over the world, whilst simultaneously bleating about press intrusion.”
Gotta love the elegance of dry British snark — whether you agree with it or not.
Meanwhile, on our side of the pond, Pulitzer Prize-worthy Lemon not only bought everything Harry and Meghan said, hook, line, and sinker; he also suggested there is no reason to hear “the other side” because the Royals would just lie, anyway.
“What’s the other side going to say? They’re going to say, ‘Of course we’re not racist,’ or whatever […] We have only heard from one side, but that one side at this point rings very true.”
Excellence in journalism at its finest, right?
Yo — Don. At “what point” would it not “ring true” if we don’t hear “the other side”?
Journalist @donlemon says we don’t need to hear from the other side on Harry/Meghan’s claims: “What’s the other side going to say? Lemon was all-in on flying wingman for Harry and Meghan — and skewering the Royal Family —while talking with equally-smug CNN colleague Brianna Keilar.
“Imagine your kids, Brianna. People love their kids and they want to protect them. For someone to treat the kid differently or be concerned about how dark the child’s skin tone is going to be — which I write about in the book and talk to you about all the time.
“Now listen, we shouldn’t be surprised that you have a black woman from America who is in their eyes a commoner, and then you have this white, redhead British Royal. People wanted to know what the baby was going to look like out of curiosity.
“But what mattered was your reaction. if you said ‘this baby is going to be a beautiful brown baby with red hair, that’s a different reaction than [insert silly stereotypical accent of offended upper-crust British woman] ‘Oh my dear, what color is his skin — is he going to be too dark?’ Two different things.”
Don Lemon. Guilty until proven innocent. Judge. Jury. Executioner.
Here’s the thing. I don’t know if Meghan Markle and her Prince Charming were telling the truth, exaggerating, or outright lying. But neither does Don Lemon or Piers Morgan.
But here’s one thing I do know:
