When CNN’s Fredo Cuomo comes in second in a Cuomo family lack of self-awareness contest, Contest, you know the trophy winner must have put on a strong performance.

Enough of the suspense.

Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of the Cuomo family’s lack of self-awareness trophy is none other than Fredo’s big brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Cuomo’s winning performance(s) consisted of appearances on two cable news networks (you’ll never guess which two), and not only blaming Donald Trump for New York’s COVID deaths but also having the sack nerve to blame “incompetent government” as a whole. (NY nursing home patients who died from COVID were not eligible to vote in the contest.)

The completely self-unaware governor suggested that Trump “ambushed” his state.

“We were ambushed like no other state. Again, it was from federal incompetence. […] Incompetent government kills people. More people died than needed to die in COVID. That’s the truth.

“Look, incompetent government can kill people. This is not a joke, and more people died here than needed to.”

Oh hell yeah it’s a “joke,” Governor “Leadership” — but the joke is on you.

Cuomo shows up on The Most Trusted Name in News™ [sarc] and PMSNBC and says crap like this because knows the sock puppet hosts will nod their heads like those bobbing-head puppy dog figurines, and agree with every lie tells and every buck he passes.

First, MSNBC, and my “pal” Nicolle Wallace (she called me a “conservative liar” last week).

Then, another “hard-hitting interview on CNN.

As Cuomo was throwing everyone under the COVID Death Bus except himself, he apparently “forgot” about the more than 6000 nursing home patients who died from COVID — the fault of his “incompetent government” directive.

Here’s a refresher, via Washington Examiner.

Cuomo’s comments come amid accusations that the governor himself mishandled coronavirus preparations in the Empire State. A June Department of Health inquiry suggested over 6,300 seniors died in nursing homes, 25% of the state’s total deaths at the time, following a Cuomo-backed policy that placed virus-positive individuals in care facilities since March 25.

The report drew criticism from medical officials, both throughout the state and nationally, that local government was biased in its analysis, and some data was intentionally omitted.

In late October, the Department of Justice expanded an investigation into the accusations against Cuomo after bipartisan backlash suggested the reported number of nursing home deaths at the time, approximately 6,700, may be off by thousands.

At the time of the DOJ investigation, the governor was promoting his book, “American Crises: Leadership Lessons From The COVID-19 Pandemic,” which praised the response to the virus in New York.

Here are a couple of representative Twitter responses to Cuomo’s buck-passing nonsense.

Gotta love the sarcasm.

As reported by the New York Post, New York State Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R-Syracuse) called out Cuomo over his tone-deaf blame game.

“It seems the governor has forgotten what happened in our own nursing homes and the sluggish vaccine rollout we’re experiencing.

“Thousands died but we still don’t know the true number of fatalities because this administration is protecting its own image.

“We should have been prepared to work with counties to get a vaccine distributed. But we’re now playing catch-up after the entire process was micromanaged from the top.”

Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi defended Cuomo, of course:

“The cause of the spread in the nursing homes in every state of this nation has been — through no fault of their own — through asymptomatic staffers.

“These are very small politicians trying to make these very mediocre headlines and they should be ashamed of themselves. Excuse me, we’re still trying to fight this pandemic.”

Uh-huh. And “excuse me,” Rich, but I call BS.

Unlike “nursing homes in every state of this nation,” Andrew Cuomo issued a directive that sent thousands of elderly COVID-positive patients to New York nursing homes — which he later lied about, falsely claiming nursing homes “never needed” to accept Covid-positive patients from state hospitals.

The Cuomo Bros. How could one family be so fortunate?
