Got Hypocrisy, Joe? Biden Raked in More 'Dark Money' Than Any Candidate in History, Dwarfing Trump's Donations

Sometimes, I almost feel like “The hypocrisy of the Left knows no bounds” should be permanently affixed as the opening sentence of my articles if not the headline. The 2020 presidential election was and remains a quintessential case in point.

As is the case with every presidential election, the “pure as the driven snow” Democrat Party —  this time with addled old Joe in tow — incessantly hyperventilated — lied — about the untold vast amounts of “special interest” money flowing into Donald Trump’s evil coffers.

Just one problem.

While Biden and his handlers continually bragged about his campaign’s small-dollar donations — as a “moral” contrast to Trump’s “corrupt” “special interest” donations, of course — it appears that again they were either lying, clueless, or both.

The title of a Saturday report from Bloomberg says it succinctly:

‘Dark Money’ Helped Pave Joe Biden’s Path to the White House.

More specifically, Biden’s campaign reeled in more “dark money” than any campaign in history, dwarfing Trump’s special interest contributions by multiples:

$145 million to $28.4 million.

President Joe Biden benefited from a record-breaking amount of donations from anonymous donors to outside groups backing him, meaning the public will never have a full accounting of who helped him win the White House.

Biden’s winning campaign was backed by $145 million in so-called dark money donations, a type of fundraising Democrats have decried for years. Those fundraising streams augmented Biden’s $1.5 billion haul, in itself a record for a challenger to an incumbent president.

That amount of dark money dwarfs the $28.4 million spent on behalf of his rival, former President Donald Trump.

And it tops the previous record of $113 million in anonymous donations backing Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in 2012.

Again, say it with me, everybody: “The hypocrisy of the Left knows no bounds.”

And the sheer depth of hypocrisy, in this case, is “almost” mind-numbing — the operative word being “almost,” given who we’re talking about. Democrats have railed against “dark money” and “special interest” money for decades, calling it a corrupt way for supporters to quietly back a candidate without public scrutiny. But — but — but — Trump.

You know, in this case: Orange man bad, dark money good.

And? As reported by CNN in late November, more than $320 million of “dark money” contributions, in total, not only helped propel Biden to the White House; the “secretive” contributions also helped boost congressional Democrat races.

As Bloomberg reported, Priorities USA Action Fund, the super-PAC formed in 2011 to re-elect Chicago Jesus Barack Obama, and in 2020 designated by Biden as his “preferred vehicle” for “outside spending,” used $26 million originally donated to its nonprofit arm, Priorities USA, to back Biden. The donors of that money do not have to be disclosed.

Priorities USA Chairman Guy Cecil was anything but apologetic:

“We weren’t going to unilaterally disarm against Trump and the right-wing forces that enabled him.”

Again, orange man bad, shuffled-around dark money, good.

Incidentally, you ever notice how the Democrats and their state media sock-puppets love to throw around “right-wing” at every concocted opportunity, yet never seem to come across an example of “left-wing” anything? Me too. Same with “far-right” vs. “far-left.”

As one might expect, a Biden spokesman did not “immediately respond” to Bloomberg’s request for comment.
