Let’s just come right out and say it. This was never about George Floyd. I’d venture a bet that a majority of these people couldn’t care less about Floyd. And if they do, why are they now burning Bibles in his “honor”?
By “these people,” I mean the anarchists — as opposed to the initial peaceful protesters — who continue to set Portland, Oregon, on fire, night after night. The rioters who carry a bloody severed pig’s head into a Portland park, adorn it with a police officer’s hat, and set it on fire.
If you missed the burning pig’s head on Thursday, here ya go.

The truth is, these people don’t give a damn about George Floyd.
But, hey — let’s pretend they do. Let’s apply a bit of “anarchist logic” (yes, that’s oxymoronic) for a moment and ask ourselves what we would do if we wanted to honor George Floyd.
Better yet, what would George Floyd do if he were alive, and participating in a “protest” in honor of a different black man?
Remember WWJD bracelets? “What would Jesus do?” Perhaps it’s time to roll out WWGD bracelets — What would George do? What would the man who was reportedly a Christian involved in Bible ministry do to honor another Christian?
I got this one.
Why, he’d participate in burning a stack of Bibles to honor a fellow-Christian, of course, right? Yeah, no. But that’s exactly what the “protesters” did on another chaotic night in Portland, Friday.
Because the riots in Portland have to do with George Floyd…the man holding the Bible in this picture. Those rioters are no more concerned with George Floyd than the Bibles they are burning. https://t.co/zRBBpNSZdP pic.twitter.com/AzJwbZnXMQ

Perhaps this observation by Donald Trump Jr. best encapsulates what’s really going on in Portland.
Now we move to the book burning phase. I’m pretty sure ANTIFA doesn’t actually stand for what they say it stands for. Maybe just remove the anti part of them name and it’s perfect.

The disturbing symbolism of book-burning has a long and sinister history. Why do I think the anarchists know exactly that?
As Andy Ngô, editor-at-large for The Post Millennial observed, Friday night in Portland wasn’t just about burning Bibles; flags were pretty hot, as well (double-entendre intended, of course).

Fire was a big thing period during Friday night’s “peaceful protest.”

Some of the rioters who weren’t busily burning stuff participated in other fun “peaceful” fun activities, such as tearing barricades off of storefronts near the federal courthouse. As Ngô noted, “Portland Police are aware but will let them continue because they’re given directive to leave rioters alone in most circumstances.”

And on it went, 65 days and counting. Among those not amused by Friday night’s festivities was Donald Trump.
Homeland Security is not leaving Portland until local police complete cleanup of Anarchists and Agitators!

Trump has been battling the likes of Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, and other Looney Tunes Leftists — chief among them, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who shamelessly referred to federal troops in Portland as “stormtroopers.” (See: “Nazi Germany.”)
Unidentified stormtroopers. Unmarked cars. Kidnapping protesters and causing severe injuries in response to graffiti.
These are not the actions of a democratic republic.@DHSgov’s actions in Portland undermine its mission.
Trump & his stormtroopers must be stopped.
— Nancy Pelosi (@SpeakerPelosi) July 18, 2020
As my RedState colleague Bonchie wrote on Wednesday, Pelosi later tried to walk back the reference, failing miserably to do so.
Grabien editor Tom Elliot summed it up: “Speaker Pelosi tries clarifying that she said federal police “acted like” stormtroopers but weren’t literally “stormtroopers.”
Got it? Me neither. Then again, when Pelosi’s lips are moving, she’s either lying or trying to hold her dentures in place.

So what’s on tap for Saturday night’s agenda of “peaceful activities” in Portland? By “peaceful protesters” who continue to “mourn” the death of George Floyd, of course? Hard to say.
Thing is, after burning a bloody severed pig’s head sporting a cop’s cap one night, and torching a stack of Bibles the next, it’s getting tough for these lunatics to top themselves — but they’ll surely try, no doubt.
