During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast published on Friday, Hillary Clinton criticized Donald Trump’s handling of the Wuhan virus, saying she would have done a better job.

As president, of course.

Before we continue, does it take everything you can muster to look at Hillary’s smug face, listen to her whine about 2016, blame everyone but herself for her loss, and continue to pontificate about how she could have done everything better than anybody, if only given the chance?

Yeah, me too.

Anyway, the two-time-loser presidential candidate said Trump should have focused more on battling the health implications of the pandemic and less time on reopening businesses, which she said could have ultimately blunted some of the economic fallout from the virus.

We wouldn’t have been able to stop the pandemic at our borders the way that Trump claimed in the beginning, but we sure could have done a better job saving lives, modeling better, more responsible behavior. I don’t think we necessarily should have had as deep an economic assault on livelihoods and jobs as we have. So I know I would have done a better job.

Huh? Correct me if I’m wrong, but Hillary sounds like she’s talking out of both sides of her mouth. By focusing more on “responsible (health-related) behavior” than on reopening businesses, the impact of the virus would’ve been less devastating on jobs and the economy?

Hillary said it was “frustrating to be on the sidelines in a pandemic” and that she could’ve done more to stop the virus’s spread.

No doubt Hillary’s hair was on fire Friday night, as Trump went full-metal-jacket Trump during a patriotic campaign speech in the shadow of Mount Rushmore.

As RedState’s Sister Toldjah reported in mid-June, Hillary “stepped in it big” by torching Trump over the health risks of his rallies, after having lauded marching protesters following George Floyd’s death.

Then again, Hillary is Hillary. She does what she does best: be Hillary.

As for Hillary’s podcast, far be it from me to suggest that anyone listen to the whole thing. But for those so inclined, here ya go.

For everyone else, here are a couple of “highlights.”

When asked what advice she would give pre-2016 election Hillary if she could go back in time, she said:

The thing that I look back on is the difficulty we had in defending against the action that [then-FBI director James] Comey took 10 days out from the election putting out a statement that I was being investigated again, even though it turned out there was nothing new there and there was no there there.

I would have figured out a better way of countering that, because it really did raise understandable questions in voters’ minds, and I watched internally as my numbers dropped in key places like Pennsylvania because, all of a sudden, this was back in the news. So if we could have figured out a better way to counter that and not let it drag on.

In other words, she did nothing wrong, personally, including her refusal to heed the advice of even her own husband that she was making a mistake by failing to spend more time in the battleground states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. She lost all three.

And on the ridiculous assertion by some in the Democrat Party and its liberal media lapdogs that Trump will refuse to leave the White House if he loses in  November?

I don’t know the answer to that yet. I think it depends upon how big the loss is, and that’s why they’re doing everything they can to prevent people from voting — you know, they want to stop mail-in voting, they want to shrink the number of places where people can actually vote in person — because they know if we have a big turnout, they lose.

And so we’re gonna have lots of fights over actual voting procedures between now and November. And if they can do anything that makes it look questionable, they will. And that’s why everybody needs to come out and vote — I don’t care where you live — and have as big a turnout as possible so that there can’t be any excuse given.

In other words, she dodged the question completely.

But, hey. As the Independence Day weekend winds to a close, let us take comfort in the knowledge that we live in a country where even failed politicians who accomplished little in public life can continue to self-righteously whine about a presidency they’ll never have.

Even if they could have done a better job with the WUHAN virus.
