Of course she quoted, Arnold Schwarzenegger. According to author Ed Klein, we haven’t seen the last of Hillary Clinton, on our televisions or at the ballot box. Klein wrote on his blog about a luncheon with some of her donors, where Hillary Clinton reportedly told the guests, “I’ll Be Back.”
Not to be the mayor of New York or to retire in academia, Klein explains, Mrs. Clinton has her sights set on a possible television show, that could set her up for another run at the White House in 2020.
From Ed Klein‘s post
“She’s been talking very seriously about the idea of having her own television show,” said the source. “As a TV host, she’d discuss the issues of the day from a progressive point of view, have top guests, interview world leaders and progressive thinkers.
“It would have to be a show that she and her people completely controlled,” the source continued. “She’s convinced she’d get fabulous ratings in a political climate where there’s so much anger in Democratic circles over Donald Trump’s election.
“She’s utterly determined not to fade into the background. She intends to stay in the limelight and keep fighting the good fight. She knows Obama is going to be out there fighting too. But frankly, she doesn’t think he’s a great leader or a great fighter, which leaves an opening for her to be the acknowledged leader-in-exile of her party.
“She thinks being the host of a popular TV show would energize the Democratic Party base and her tens of millions of fans. It’s a way to make a comeback and position herself for another run at the White House starting in a year or so.”
I’m having trouble picturing Hillary Clinton as the new Oprah, or even the new Bill O’Reilly, she’s just not very good in front of a camera. Her popularity is tied to Bill and to the party, more than her personally. Remember Oprah’s rousing endorsement of Hillary was “you don’t have to like her”. So it’s difficult to imagine Mrs. Clinton generating a viewing audience in the talk show host category.
As for running 2020, the only law that could prevent her from running are the laws of nature. Hillary will be 73 years old in 4 years, she just lost the Presidency for the second time, I would think she’d want to retire and hang out with the grandkids at some point. She’s ambitious but she was also devastated by her loss to Donald Trump. Just getting through a primary is exhausting, 2020 would be her third time personally going through process, after doing it two previous times with Bill. I’m tired just writing about it.
You’d think the Democrats would be discouraging this kind of talk from Hillary as it creates the appearance that they have no one else to run. While their options are limited at this point, if Hillary Clinton throws her hat in the race again, it would decimate whatever is left of their party. It will be interesting to see who continues to support her in a few months, when other candidates will begin their exploratory committees and she’s lost all her influence.
