There are moments when a person says something out loud without realizing how dumb it sounds. This is one of those moments. 

Initially, Kamala Harris wouldn't talk much about her plans for the presidency. Now, we realize why that silence was golden. 

One of Kamala's newest announcements is her initiative to dumb down federal jobs by not requiring a degree:

Now, to be fair, there are many successful people in America who do not have college educations. There is more than one path to success. However, college degree requirements serve as a practical and functional filter for people who don't want to put in the extra time and investment to gain knowledge and mastery of a skill. Additionally, to state the obvious, certain jobs require expertise that can only be learned through extensive study. Imagine if we had an accreditation system to manage that...Oh wait, we do. 

Any normal person wouldn't have to be convinced of the value of a college education. The underlying question is -- then why does Harris? 

The far Left, from where Harris hails, has a vendetta against merit-based success in our society, and we need to ask ourselves why. DEI—Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion—was just another word for discrimination; only the people of the majority were the victims in place of the minority. It was a clever way to turn back the dial of time and reverse the civil rights movement in the name of a modern civil rights movement. 

Even though it proved not to work, the Left will continue to rebrand their movement, which has its roots in socialism. The opposite of a socialist society, in essence, is a merit-based society. In a meritocracy, a person has control over their own destiny, whether to make it better or let it fall short. By their actions, the Left has made a good case to prove that they would rather control our lives themselves. 

At surface value, Harris sounds like a freedom fighter. She wants to empower people to grow and achieve their dreams without limitations! (Cue "What can be, unburdened by what has been.") But what do these actions really mean? They mean people in important positions, making decisions that affect Americans everywhere, and the only qualification required is to be liked by their boss. It means that people at the top will have the power to choose hirees based on their own preferences, regardless of accreditation, knowledge, or experience. Once again, masterfully, the Left finds a way to have the people at the top in charge. 

Let Kamala do what she wants with her own life, but Americans need better safeguards. At a time when trust in the government is at an all-time low, the last thing she needs to do is remove guard rails that ensure qualification for government jobs. 

Perhaps this is just another way for the Biden administration to fight against upper-level education since their student loan forgiveness plans were shot down. That's a story for another time, but the arc is the same- What seemed noble at the surface was actually another way to blur the lines of merit and put people at the top in charge of our society as a whole. There is no "free" education. The options are a system where one can work hard and make sacrifices others don't to get ahead, or one where everything is "free" because everyone is taxed and the government decides how to appropriate it. When we remove the personal sacrifices required for a college education, we remove the reward as well. 

Perhaps the Left thinks that if they can't have the control, they will throw the whole thing out altogether. We would be wise not to allow that to happen on our watch.
