Week 2 of the NFL season will kick off tomorrow as the Los Angeles Chargers head to Kansas City, Missouri, for a divisional battle against the Chiefs. We will bring you new rankings based on matchups and injuries each week.
Let’s start with the Week 1 Quarterback rankings:
- Josh Allen vs. Tennessee Titans
- Justin Herbert at Kansas City Chiefs
- Patrick Mahomes vs. Los Angeles Chargers
- Lamar Jackson vs. Miami Dolphins
- Jalen Hurts vs. Minnesota Vikings
- Russell Wilson vs. Houston Texans
- Kyler Murray at Las Vegas Raiders
- Aaron Rodgers vs. Chicago Bears
- Tom Brady at New Orleans Saints
- Carson Wentz at Detroit Lions
Josh Allen picked apart the Rams’ defense in Week 1; he will likely repeat that performance against the Titans. Justin Herbert always seems to play at a high level when he faces off against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Although he will be without his best wide receiver Keenan Allen, Herbert will have enough talent to put up big numbers. Mahomes also tends to play at a high level against Herbert and the Chargers, but the Chargers’ defense is better, so Mahomes is ranked one spot lower than Herbert. Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts are in the same tier for Week 2, but after seeing Aaron Rodgers struggle against the Vikings, it’s safer to rank Jackson above Hurts. Carson Wentz had a big game in Week 1; he will continue that success against the Lions’ defense in Week 2.
Here are the top 10 Running Backs for Week 2:
- Austin Ekeler at Kansas City Chiefs
- Jonathan Taylor at Jacksonville Jaguars
- Christian McCaffrey at New York Giants
- Saquon Barkley vs. Carolina Panthers
- Dalvin Cook at Philadelphia Eagles
- Joe Mixon at Dallas Cowboys
- James Conner at Las Vegas Raiders
- D’Andre Swift (Questionable) vs. Washington Commanders
- Derrick Henry at Buffalo Bills
- Javonte Williams vs. Houston Texans
The Chargers will be shorthanded in Week 2, as Keenan Allen (hamstring) is out against the Chiefs. Herbert will likely rely on Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams on Thursday Night Football, which makes Ekeler an intriguing option in fantasy football and daily fantasy on DraftKings/FanDuel. Jonathan Taylor, Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley, and Ekeler will be in the same tier throughout the season. D’Andre Swift is questionable to play against the Commanders. He did not practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury. Jamal Williams would be an intriguing option for daily fantasy lineups if Swift is ruled out. Javonte Williams had 11 receptions in Week 1, and he will be a top-10 play in Week 2 against the Texans.
Here are the top 10 Wide Receivers for Week 2:
- Cooper Kupp vs. Atlanta Falcons
- Justin Jefferson at Philadelphia Eagles
- Davante Adams vs. Arizona Cardinals
- Stefon Diggs vs. Tennessee Titans
- Ja’Marr Chase at Dallas Cowboys
- Mike Williams at Kansas City Chiefs
- Deebo Samuel vs. Seattle Seahawks
- Tyreek Hill at Baltimore Ravens
- Michael Pittman Jr (Questionable) at Jacksonville Jaguars
- A.J. Brown vs. Minnesota Vikings
Wide receiver rankings will be based on injuries and matchups. Most weeks, Mike Williams will not be in the top 10, but his performance over the years against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium makes him an intriguing option this week, as he could be targeted a lot more in Week 2 due to Keenan Allen being ruled out. Cooper Kupp, Justin Jefferson, Davante Adams, Ja’Marr Chase, and Stefon Diggs will be in the same tier each week. Deebo Samuel could be utilized as a running back and wide receiver again in Week 2, making him a top 7 option.
Here are the top 10 Tight Ends for Week 2:
- Mark Andrews vs. Miami Dolphins
- Travis Kelce vs. Los Angeles Chargers
- Darren Waller vs. Arizona Cardinals
- Kyle Pitts at Los Angeles Rams
- Dalton Schultz vs. Cincinnati Bengals
- George Kittle (Questionable) vs. Seattle Seahawks
- Pat Freiermuth vs. New England Patriots
- Dallas Goedert vs. Minnesota Vikings
- T.J. Hockenson vs. Washington Commanders
- Gerald Everett at Kansas City Chiefs
Travis Kelce will have a tough matchup against Chargers safety Derwin James in Week 2; therefore, he is ranked number two. Dalton Schultz will be without Dak Prescott in Week 2; however, Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush might rely more on Schultz than the wide receivers. Gerald Everett impressed in Week 1, and he has the opportunity to see more targets in Week 2 on Thursday Night Football against the Chiefs.
Here are the top 10 Defenses and Special Teams:
- Los Angeles Rams vs. Atlanta Falcons
- San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks
- Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears
- Denver Broncos vs. Houston Texans
- Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets
- Indiana Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints
- New England Patriots at Pittsburgh Steelers
- Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys
- Buffalo Bills vs. Tennessee Titans
