Several GOP Senators visited the southern border as there is a historical number of migrants crossing the border.

Led by Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and John Cornyn (R-TX), Senators Joni Ernst (R-IA), James Lankford (R-OK), John Barrasso (R-WY), Ron Johnson (R-WI), and John Hoeven (R-ND) joined them to visit the southern border.

Cruz said they went on a midnight patrol with Border Patrol, and within minutes, they ran into a group of illegal migrants. Cruz said:

“Encountered a group of illegal aliens. First group was teenagers from Guatamala and Mexico.” The next group was mostly women and children, he said, including two 7-year-old girls who were unaccompanied minors. They weren’t sisters and weren’t brought by relatives. “They’d just gone through a horrific journey with human traffickers.”

Cruz said they met with ranchers and farmers as well.

“We met with ranchers, farmers who are absolutely furious that they can’t be safe on their own property … What is infuriating is that this is all deliberate. This is a result of deliberate political decisions from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris … In our nation’s history, there’s never been a president engage in a greater dereliction of duty on our border than Joe Biden. He utterly refuses to do his job to enforce the border.”

Cruz did not mince words when placing blame on the Biden administration for the farmers and ranchers not feeling safe on their own property.

Cruz questioned why the Democrats had not made a trip to the southern border:

“Where are the Democrats? … They’re not here because you can’t look at the dead bodies and the children being assaulted, at the chaos, you can’t look at it and defend it.”

Senator Joni Ernst said:

“The men and women of our Border Patrol should be commended for their exemplary service under extraordinary circumstances. No one can visit our Southern border, hear directly from our border officials, and see this historic crisis firsthand and possibly claim that our border is closed.”

Ernst went on to call out the Biden administration and their inaction on securing the southern border:

“Under President Biden and his administration, our border is open, and the drug cartels are taking full advantage of it. As a mom, I’m appalled by the stories of young girls who have suffered abuse while being trafficked by cartels, and the havoc and heartache created across our communities – in Iowa and throughout the country – because of the amount of lethal drugs flowing across our Southern border.”

The GOP, from Senators to Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, has been urging the Biden administration to address the southern border crisis — thus far, to no avail.
