Daily Sports Roundup: Update on Durant, Irving Trade Talks, Odell Beckham Jr. Tore ACL 'Well Before' Super Bowl, and More

The NBA was not as active today, but we did get an update on the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving trade talks. As for the NFL world, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. revealed that he tore his ACL “well before” the Super Bowl showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals. Two former NFL running backs — Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell — will participate in a boxing match.

NBA Roundup:

After trading for center Rudy Gobert, the Minnesota Timberwolves are “unwilling” to trade Anthony Edwards or Karl-Anthony Towns to the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant.

LeBron James has made it clear that he wants to team up with Kyrie Irving in Los Angeles “more than anyone,” and he is “rooting hard” for the Lakers to acquire him. The biggest reason the trade has not taken place yet is that the Lakers want shooting guard Seth Curry in the trade package, and the Nets want to include Joe Harris instead of Curry.

Both players can shoot the three-ball; however, the Lakers may not want to take on Harris’ contract. This deal could get done any day now, so stay tuned for more updates!

Veteran point guard Goran Dragic signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls bolster their point guard depth with that signing, as they will look to improve off of last season’s playoff run.

NFL Roundup:

Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. said he tore his ACL before the Super Bowl. Beckham Jr. got injured during the Super Bowl, which forced him to miss the majority of the game. Although the Rams defeated the Bengals and won the Super Bowl, the team has not re-signed Beckham Jr. There seems to be mutual interest for a deal to get done, but it remains to be seen how long this will play out.

This seems to be a trend now: In December 2021, former NFL running back Frank Gore and former NBA guard Deron Williams faced off in a boxing ring. Williams ended up winning that match. Now, former running backs Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell will face off in the boxing ring. The boxing match will be held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Neither running back officially announced their retirement from the NFL. Peterson and Bell are currently free agents.
