Trump Spox Katrina Pierson Defends David Duke: "He Disavowed the KKK, Too!"

Katrina Pierson is the perfect spokesperson for Donald Trump. Here she is on CNN today with a CNN panel that was grilling her about how Trump would respond in the general election to a Hillary commercial that would be cut with his horrible answer on David Duke as the centerpiece. Pierson responded that Trump would cut a commercial back showing that Robert Byrd endorsed Obama, to which the panel responded with the sort of obvious point that Byrd was a Klan member a really long time ago.

Pierson’s response was classic:

Well, look, it’s technically true that David Duke left the KKK back in the early 1980s, but that’s not at all because he was philosophically opposed in any way to what the Ku Klux Klan stood for; in fact, he left them for the purpose of starting his own white nationalist group, the NAAWP. Since then he’s been involved tangentially or in a leadership role in a whole cavalcade of white supremacist organizations of various kinds.

So it’s not really correct to say that he “denounced” the KKK. It’s more like he left the KKK because they were cramping his style. Still, never change, Katrina Pierson.
