Throughout this Presidential campaign, Donald Trump has been incredibly critical of Hillary Clinton’s ties to countries like Saudi Arabia. In fact, it’s one of the few things I believed he was doing well in this campaign.
That is until now.
See, New York Daily News uncovered this absolute gem of hypocrisy: Donald Trump also took money from Saudi Arabia.
Trump sold the 45th floor of Trump World Tower to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for $4.5 million in June 2001, according to a city Finance Department spokeswoman. In 2008, the apartments became part of the Saudi Mission to the United Nations, records show.
The five apartments included 10 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms at the time of the sale, and had yearly common charges of $85,585 for building amenities, documents obtained by The News show. If those common charges remain the same, Trump was paid at least $5.7 million by the Saudi government since 2001.
While $5.7 million is still less than the estimated $25 million the Clinton Foundation received from Saudi Arabia, it shows yet another prime example of Trump’s hypocrisy. In a Facebook post in June, Trump called for Clinton to return the money she received from Saudi Arabia.
“Crooked Hillary says we must call on Saudi Arabia and other countries to stop funding hate, I am calling on her to immediately return the $25 million plus she got from them for the Clinton Foundation!”
So, Donald, will you be returning the money you received? Will you be kicking out the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from your hotel? Because if not, it seems like you have no problem helping a country that “funds hate”, and you once again prove that you are no better, if not worse, than your opponent.
Hint: he won’t. He will continue these sorts of hypocritical attacks and the American people will continue to be fooled. Nothing matters to his supporters, nothing at all.
