Update 3/9/23 1:39 p.m.ET On Thursday, Senator McConnell’s team released a brief statement regarding the Senate Republican Leader’s condition.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R- Kentucky) has reportedly been hospitalized after taking a fall.

Axios reported the incident Wednesday night, quoting a McConnell spokesperson.

“This evening, Leader McConnell tripped at a local hotel during a private dinner,” the Republican leader’s spokesperson said. “He has been admitted to the hospital where he is receiving treatment.”

There are no further details as this story is just breaking.

The 81-year-old Senator has been in the news this week after he publicly objected to Tucker Carlson’s airing of previously unreleased footage from the events of January 6, 2021.

“It was a mistake in my view for Fox News to depict this in a way that is completely at variance with what our chief law enforcement official here at Capitol thinks.”
