“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend, and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor.”

Gottfried was 67.

Gottfried’s voice always preceded him, but his talent was even louder. He is well known for his voiceover work as the parrot in the Disney animated film Aladdin and his stand-up work has made him a “comedian’s comedian” throughout his career. Gottfried was an artist other comedians learned from.

The world is a quieter and sadder place today. Rest in peace, funny friend.

Here he is talking to Joe Rogan about how much SNL sucked.

Here he is giving a pre-President Trump a run for his money on The Apprentice.

And of course, here is Gottfried as the iconic Iago.
