WATCH: Martha MacCallum Scolds Teachers Union Head Randi Weingarten for Pathetic CRT Dodge

Teachers union president Randi Weingarten gave a master class on progressive misdirection on Monday in an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum.

In a Monday afternoon segment, MacCallum pressed the anti-science union head about the incursion of Critical Race Theory (CRT) into public school curriculum and implored her to justify union support of the controversial social theory. Instead of leaning on logic and sound ideas to defend CRT, Weingarten chose the popular political tactic of deflection and redirection, instead launching into a bizarre indictment of Fox News regarding “election misinformation.”

In the beginning of the clip Weingarten can be heard responding to MacCallum’s line of questioning by complaining about Fox’s focus on “misinformation” regarding the 2020 election…which is an event that happened last year, for those of you who aren’t good with things like dates and calendars and the passage of time.

“I would hope that Fox would be just as focused on let’s get rid of the misinformation about what happened in this election.”

MacCallum, true to form, did not let Weingarten – who has been supportive of teachers remaining out of the classroom as long as possible – wriggle out of the question, calling her out on her obvious deflection and demanding an answer to the question at hand.

“Oh come Randi, come on. This is not the topic that we’re here to talk about. I’m not going to talk about that. We’ve talked about that before…no, that’s a dodge, okay? Because children in this country…we rank 36th in math, okay? That’s about midway of all the developed nations in this country [sic]. So I’m asking you – and you say you’re a social studies teacher – do you favor teaching students that 1619 is more important than 1776? Do you favor that?”

Weingarten responded with the typical word salad before looping back around to election fraud – something that is obviously of great concern to five-year-olds in the classroom (insert eyeroll emoji here).

“If your’e really talking about misinformation now, Martha – and I hope you are – I really would hope that Fox would really look at what happened in this election and how we can – because every social studies teacher is wrestling with this – discern fact from fiction.”

MacCallum’s reaction to Weingarten’s bizarre and obsessive deflection is representative of all of us who are tired of teachers doing everything but teaching these days and their union heads being concerned about everyone and everything except students. Progressive activists know CRT does not stand up to intelligent scrutiny. Their only defense is to deflect. Thankfully journalists like MacCallum refuse to let that behavior stand.
