It is week eleventy-billion in the impeachment wars and I don’t know about you but I’m worn out. I was never that interested in the process, to begin with. The whole thing seemed like a “Hail Mary” from the start, but I understand that I don’t know everything. Perhaps there was a “there” there that I just wasn’t seeing.

Since the beginning, however, it has been just one nothing-burger after another. With each round of meaningless circus tricks, it becomes more and more apparent that the Democrats actually have no intention of impeaching the president…they are fully intent on impeaching the American people.

Who is impeachment for? What is it for? Americans overwhelmingly elected Donald Trump in 2016. It was a resounding rejection of Clinton Inc. and the Democrat agenda in its current form. Impeachment obviously isn’t about upholding the American will. Our will was made clear on election night. Impeachment isn’t even necessarily about Donald Trump, given how every other attempt to delegitimize his presidency has so spectacularly failed. The Democrats know, better than you or I, just how little evidence there is to support the move.

No, impeachment isn’t about impeaching Donald Trump…it is about impeaching the American voter. It’s a punishment. The Democrats and the ideological Left have been angry at the rest of the country for three years now, and it is their intention to make us pay for daring to buck their rules.

Trump’s presidency is a direct repudiation of the elitist class, as bizarre as the whole thing sounds. A Manhattan billionaire becoming a symbol for the little guy? Weird. But that’s where we are. The Democrat party (and some Republicans) will never forgive us for circumventing their power structure and playbooks and taking a wildly different path. The American people are only supposed to feel like we have some measure of control at the top. In reality, there is an entire class at the top who set the rules for succession, who deserves our support and how elections shape up.

Trump’s election spit in the face of the conventional wisdom they’ve forced on us for decades and now we’re all paying for it.

The Democrats (and anyone with a lick of sense) know that impeachment in the House is meaningless in regards to how Trump governs. It will die in the Senate, but beyond that, we need only to look to the Clinton dynasty to see that an impeached president doesn’t need to go anywhere. Trump can serve out his terms as an impeached president just fine.

No, it is the American people whom the Democrats wish to punish. They are impeaching our decisions and our passions. They are telling us that our votes are mistakes that need to be corrected. The better alternative to this whole charade is to let the American people decide if Trump is worthy of another term in less than 12 months. To carry on with this impeachment circus is to send a direct message – we don’t trust you to do it right.

Trump is far more effective as a president than I ever gave him credit for upon his election. I may have entered this presidency with skepticism but watching the Democrat party disintegrate into a revenge-machine has only solidified for me the fact that the American people made the right decision in 2016.

It’s a decision the Democrats intend to make us pay for.
