Breaking: Twitter to End Political Advertising on the Platform

In a stunning move on Wednesday, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced that the platform would no longer be selling political advertising space.

In a lengthy thread, Dorsey explained that the site was responding to the changing political discourse. He said people can choose who to follow based on the content they enjoy but paid advertising circumvents that organic process. He went to posit that as the situation becomes more complicated it might be better for Twitter to stay out of it altogether rather than apply half-hearted fixes that don’t really satisfy any party involved.

Dorsey says the changes will take effect by 11/22 to give advertisers time to adjust and make plans.

What do you think? Is this a good development or more chilling of free speech?
