Another Blow to Hate Crime Hoaxer Jussie Smollett As Judge Issues New Ruling

Empire might be ending soon but the saga of former star Jussie Smollett continues to play out in the court system.

Rumors have been circulating for months that Smollett is having a hard time find work after he faked his own hate crime. Undoubtedly Smollett needs for these charges and the public’s current negative perception of his character to fade away as quickly as possible. Unfortunately for him the ball of yarn to be unraveled just seems to get longer and longer with each passing day.

A Chicago judge has ruled that Smollett’s criminal file be unsealed and made available to the public, saying the performer hasn’t “shown good cause to rebut the public presumption of access”.

From Page Six:

The ruling by Cook County Judge Steven Watkins comes after he heard oral arguments last week from attorneys over the case file, which was sealed in March, NBC Chicago reported.

Natalie Spears, who represented news organizations seeking the unsealing of the records, said there was no point in keep them secret anymore.

“There is no way to secrete the fact of Jussie Smollett’s arrest. At this point it is widely and publicly known from here to Helsinki and back,” Spears said at the time, according to the Chicago Tribune. “No potential employer, let alone anyone with a pulse, does not know about Jussie Smollett’s arrest at this point.”

Smollett’s representation countered with a lackluster “it’s the media’s fault” argument but the situation is less than ideal for the actor considering the pressure currently facing Cook County authorities to officially investigate State Attorney Kim Foxx and her mishandling of the case.

And just in case you were starting to forget how ridiculous his defense has been from the beginning here’s Jussie’s now-infamous interview with Robin Roberts. Smollett is definitely in the running for the R.Kelly Award For Over Dramatic Indignation.
