Noted deep-thinker and problem creator solver Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thinks we have a low-income family banking crisis in America…and she thinks she has the solution.

In a video appearance alongside fellow unicorn trainer Bernie Sanders, AOC talked about her concerns that too many low-income American families do not have access to the most basic of banking services.

But have no fear – AOC has an idea.

A non-profit, government run bank administered by…are you ready for this?

The United States Postal Service.

“We should have a not-for-profit public option for basic banking services, and we should be piloting these projects through the U.S. Postal Service.”

AOC continues her transition into her own living parody. She is actually suggesting that a government organization that has lost over $46 billion since 2007 and continues to hemorrhage money even as it continues it’s agonizingly slow, wounded lumber into modernization take over the bank accounts of private citizens.

The government can’t even support Social Security and has already so much of both past and future payments that it is likely the whole system will collapse within the next decade. How AOC thinks handing over one’s entire paycheck to that same entity for “safe keeping” is absolutely perplexing.

The USPS can’t even handle their own finances let alone anyone else’s. And imagine the hours! You can only bank from 9 a.m.-4pm but union-mandated lunches are 12-1 with 20 minute breaks every hour…and get your queue kit up to date because you’ll be standing in line forever in order to talk to some government employee who has no incentive to treat you like a paying customer.

Sounds groovy!

PJ Media’s Tyler O’Neil sums it up nicely:

AOC seems to think that the only solution is to create a new government boondoggle. This would be run by the post office, with its short hours, lost packages, and costs that go up as demand for the product goes down (ahem, stamps).

For good measure, she’ll make it corrupt and inefficient like most non-profits. That’s because government is always the answer, and the self-avowed socialist beside her nodded along.
