Kanye West abruptly ended a show at the Meadows Festival (Queens) Sunday night, citing a “family emergency.”

No, the “emergency” wasn’t that someone on his staff finally told him the truth about his fugly “fashion” line. There was indeed a real emergency. As it turns out, West’s wife – Kim Kardashian – was held at gunpoint in her Paris hotel.

All jokes aside, this sounds like a truly terrifying incident. As TMZ reports: 

Armed gunmen broke into Kim Kardashian‘s Paris apartment, taped her mouth shut and stole more than $10 million in jewelry and the emergency rippled quickly all the way to New York … where Kanye bolted from the stage mid-concert.

There were 5 gunmen, posing as cops, who threatened the concierge and made him open the door to her room.

Our sources say at least 2 gunmen bound and gagged Kim with handcuffs and tape and then put her in the bathtub. We’re told Kim begged them to spare her life, telling them she had babies at home.

The gunmen knew exactly what they were doing … we’re told they beelined it for her jewelry and took a $4.5 million ring and a jewelry box.

After the gunmen left she was able to break out of the restraints and called for help.

We’re told Kim was badly shaken but unharmed, calling it “the worst moment in my life.” She was interviewed by police and then hurriedly left Paris by private jet.

Kim’s bodyguard was reportedly not in the hotel room at the time of the robbery.

I want to make lots of jokes about amount of money and jewels she had in a frigging hotel room in what right now is the terror capital of the Western world. However, it sounds like the reality star has been through quite an ordeal, and as a mother I can only imagine how terrifying it is to be faced with the thought you’ll never see your children again.

However, the other point this heinous attack brings up is that Paris is a “gun-free” zone. Even most of the police are unarmed.

Which is probably why so many terrorists and terrorist-harboring communities seem to act with such impunity in the “City of Love”…but I digress.

It is unfortunate that Kim Kardashian had to learn the hard way that gun control laws only ever apply to those who obey the law in the first place.

I used to be staunchly anti-gun and I did not understand nor approve of the second amendment. Then my husband’s job took him away from our family for 4 months, and I was left in the middle of ghetto with a young son and a baby girl. I told my husband that although I’d promised myself I would never have a gun in my home, I didn’t feel comfortable having no way to defend our children if anything ever went down while he was away. Our street -besides just being in a city competitive on the per capita homicide charts – had also recently suffered a rash of frightening, violent home invasions. I needed a way to protect our family.

He told me if that’s what I wanted he would send me to safety classes and when I graduated I could buy a gun. That’s what I did. The process taught me to respect the power of a defensive tool and gave me a new appreciation for the second amendment. It was also one of the most empowering things I’ve ever done for myself. To this day, even when I am without a weapon within my reach, I feel more powerful, more capable and less vulnerable.

Mrs. West, may I suggest from this point on you buy a gun and learn how to defend yourself. Then carry that gun everywhere you can. If not for your own sake, for the sake of your babies.

Criminals don’t care if your hotel is a gun-free zone.
