Whoopi Goldberg Makes Possibly Her Dumbest Take Yet, and It's About Life in Iran

Whoopi Goldberg has made some whoppers in the past, but her comments on Wednesday comparing life for Black Americans in the United States  to Iran might be her dumbest take yet.

During the ABC News daytime talk show "The View," the co-hosts battled over the dangers of life in Iran. Goldberg, a millionaire member of Hollywood, attempted to claim that life is no different for Blacks in America than living in the Islamic state. Yes, really.

"I think it's very different to live in the United States in 2025 than it is to live in Iran in 2025," Alyssa Farah told the panel:

Goldberg then interjected, "Not if you're black."

Her very wealthy co-host Sunny Hostin can also be overheard making the ridiculous claim, "not for everybody."

"Not if you're black," Goldberg repeated.

Farah shot back, wanting to make it crystal clear to everyone watching that they do not listen to what Whoopi had said and think it's safe for Americans to travel there.

"Guys, don't go to Tehran, "Farah said. "Do not, anyone at this table, go to Tehran."

Goldberg also suggested there's no difference between being gay or a woman in Iran and being black in America.

She also admitted that the U.S. is the greatest country in the world, but then slammed America again.

"But every day we are worried," Goldberg said. "Do we have to be worried about our kids? Are our kids going to get shot because they are running through somebody's neighborhood?"

Panelist Sarah Haines interjected and said women aren't "doing well" in Iran either. "They are not doing well in Iran. They are not educated…," she added.

Hostin then jumped in and said she was talking about the United States.

As our sister site, Townhall.com so brilliantly pointed out, "Homosexuality is criminalized in Iran. The maximum penalty is death." So, yeah, Whoopi is not even close on this one.

Reading through the comments to the various clips, internet users blew up on Goldberg for being so untruthful.

"Whoopi has to know. Surely, she knows. Women are beaten and killed if they take off their head coverings," one person wrote. "Last time I checked, the U.S. doesn't beat and kill people for dress code violations."

Another person added, "Oprah, Beyonce, Cardi B, Susan Rice, Whoopi, Gayle King all seem to be doing better than most white women. Should we talk about black athletes, celebrities and movers and shakers?"

While a third person wrote, "Poor Whoopie [sic], first starring role in a Steven Spielberg movie back in the 80s, she's had a rough life.

At one point, things got even more heated on the show Wednesday when Hostin repeatedly called Israel's strike on Iran "preemptive" and "illegal."

"You have to do it diplomatically, Joy [Behar]. You can't just bomb another country!" Hostin said.

Haines jumped in and said, "I'm not going to defend the legalness of a terrorist nation that has been funding people killing people for decades…"

"Iran has launched ballistic missile attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq just 3 years ago, preemptively. They have attacked Israel preemptively," Farah said. "They are a terrorist nation."
