80s pop star Boy George decided to try to attack J.K. Rowling for her stance against transgenders and support of women's only spaces and got utterly destroyed.
It started when the pop star, whose real name is George O'Dowd, attacked the famed "Harry Potter" author and very vocal advocate for single-sex spaces for women by claiming on X that she's taken away the rights of transgender-identifying males to "be left alone by a rich, bored bully!"
Well, to say that she didn't take it lightly would be a serious understatement. Rowling hit back and wrote to the former pop star, "There are many differences between us, George, but some are particularly relevant to this debate."
"1. You're a man, and I'm a woman. 2. You've been wealthy and famous since your early 20s. I didn't become well-known until I was well over 30," Rowling wrote before she came back with both barrels, bringing up O'Dowd's assault conviction. "3. I've never been given 15 months for handcuffing a man to a wall and beating him with a chain. 4. I believe in freedom of speech and belief."

"For more than half my life, I was a regular anonymous person. Some of those years were spent in poverty. That's why I understand the importance of single-sex spaces for women who [are] reliant on state-funded services," Rowling continued. "That's why I understand why mixed public changing rooms are a problem for women."
The famed author said this is also why she has a problem with "men 'identifying' into women's rape crisis [centers], domestic abuse and homeless shelters that are supposed to be single-sex."
She made it crystal clear to him that her position is "because my life has taught me exactly how vulnerable women are when they don't have the money/influence I have now."
Rowling went on to bring her point home:
You yourself have been convicted of violent assault. The overwhelming number of people who commit crimes of violence are male, just like you. That's why I don't want to see men identifying into women's prison cells or any of the spaces mentioned above. Not all men are violent or predatory, but enough are to make safeguarding necessary.
Lastly, I'm a writer who believes in freedom of speech and belief. As we both know, the safe, fashionable thing in the art world right now is to do exactly what you're doing: parrot TWAW and sneer at the unenlightened plebs who think sex is important and matters. For a man who was once all about non-conformity, George, you couldn't have become more predictably or more tediously conformist.
Not surprisingly, there has yet to be a response from Boy George to Rowling. And I am guessing there will not be. For those who might have missed the trial in 2009, disturbing details of the case against the pop star for attacking model Audun Carlsen can be read here.
As the Guardian noted in its report about the testimony during the trial:
O'Dowd told him: "Now you're going to get what you deserve." Carlsen said he was then beaten and handcuffed to a wall fixture. When O'Dowd returned to the room with a box of leather straps, chains, and sex toys, he said: "Now you're going to get it."
Carlsen told the jury he only escaped after wrenching the fixture free, but was beaten with a chain by the singer as he fled into the street in Shoreditch, east London. In an apparently accidental allusion to Culture Club's 1982 No 1 hit, Heather Norton, for the prosecution, asked the jury during the trial: "Did he really have to hurt him?"
Rowling has been relentless in her support of women's only sports and spaces amid an onslaught from LGBTQ advocates. Recently, she perfectly broke down the transgender movement and what insanity it has become.
