Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) threw his support behind an investigation into Dr. Anthony Fauci and the origin of COVID-19 announced by the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard.

“Fauci lied to me, to Congress, and to the American people,” Paul wrote on X following Gabbard’s comments on “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast. “Thank you to @TulsiGabbard for helping shed light on all of this. More coming…”

Paul has been an outspoken critic of Fauci and the misinformation around the origin of the virus.

In the clip, Kelly asked Gabbard about a new report from “The Chinese State Council Information Office” claiming “that COVID originated in the United States, not in China.”

“So I created a special teams group, the ‘Director's Initiatives Group,’ that is focused on investigating a number of the President's [Donald Trump’s] top priorities and the things that the American people really deserve and want to know the truth about,” Gabbard told the host.

“The origins of COVID-19 is one of them, so they're actively working on that,” she added.

“A lot of the work that's been done is on Covid.gov… It's quite a transformation of the website… The thing we are working with Jay Bhattacharya, the new NIH Director with, as well as Secretary [of Health and Human Services] [Robert F.] Kennedy [Jr.], is looking at the gain-of-function research that in the case of the Wuhan lab, as well as many others around many of these other bio labs around the world was actually US funded, and leads to this dangerous kind of research that, in many examples, has resulted in either a pandemic or some other major health crisis… “

When pressed further about what they were digging into, Gabbard said that she’s looking forward soon “to being able to share that specific link between the gain-of-function research and what we saw with COVID-19."

Kelly pointed out that “if that’s true,” it would mean that “Anthony Fauci helped fund the pandemic.”

“The thing that he [Fauci] denied over and over and over to Senator Rand Paul's questioning, under oath… So, is it any wonder that he sought a preemptive pardon for anything during a certain period of time by President [Joe] Biden before he left office?” Gabbard replied.

The host pointed out that it wouldn’t just be the pardon but that Fauci “strong-armed and then smeared” those like Bhattacharya, and anyone who discredited the lab leak theory.

Shortly after President Trump resumed office, the White House updated its website on Covid.gov that clearly states in big bold letters that the pandemic was caused by a “Lab Leak,” RedState reported.

A message on the page read, "The True Origins of Covid-19" and pointed to not only the origin of the virus but also the misinformation as to its origin pushed on us for years by those like Fauci and other “experts.”

The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2” publication — which was used repeatedly by public health officials and the media to discredit the lab leak theory — was prompted by Dr. Fauci to push the preferred narrative that COVID-19 originated naturally.
