How Free Is Your State ?

The Cato Institute has their interactive ranking of freedom in the fifty states up here.

Freedom in the 50 states

Interestingly enough NY the state that gave us Donald Trump ranks dead last in the rankings. This infograph has an unusual feature, you can customize the rankings according to the particular freedoms that are important to you. Give it a go, it may provide food for thought about retirement states, or your next move.

Global Warming People Finally Correct California Wildfires Caused By Man

Well what do you know the environmentalists finally got one right, those devastating California wildfires are actually caused by man’s reckless disregard for his environment. They are still wrong about the Global Warming part, but this time it allegedly is man, specifically a man.

Alleged Serial arsonist arrested

The man accused of setting the California wildfires is Damian Anthony Pashilk, who has been arraigned on 17 counts of serial arson. Unfortunately, the fires are still raging and the worst is yet to come. Fireseason for much of California is September through October when ground kindling is at its driest.

Well maybe there is a theory of how Global Warming drove him to it ?

Wikileaks Pleads The Clinton Defense

Well it used to just be the courts that got to invent law bypassing the legislature. Looks like now you just need to be the FBI director. Wikileaks is now using his interpretation of the law as a defense for their actions that undermined U.S. national security.

FBI Director James B. Comey ultimately announced last month that investigators determined Mrs. Clinton and her colleagues acted “extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information,” but not intentionally.

“Wikileaks’ intent was lawful. It was not to aid enemies of the United States or to obstruct justice; it was to inform the public about matters of great public interest,” Mr. Pollack wrote.

“Under the circumstances, there is no legitimate basis for continuing the Department’s lengthy criminal investigation of Mr. Assange and WikiLeaks,” he added. “Doing so chills the newsgathering and reporting of WikiLeaks and other media organizations, improperly allows the Department to evade its responsibility to disclose information pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act premised on the open investigation and has resulted in what the United Nations has deemed to be the unlawful detention of Mr. Assange in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for more than four years.”

Looks like the Administration has by clumsy error redefined our legal system in their quest to keep Hillary from facing criminal charges.

Speaking Of The Left’s Now Complicated Relationship With Wikileaks -NPR Host Demands Assange Give Up Sources

Holy Hypocrissy Batman, Journalists demanding other Journalists violate their integrity ? Shield Laws for me but not thee ?

In a ten-minute interview aired Wednesday morning, NPR’s David Greene asked Wikileaks founder Julian Assange five times to reveal the sources of the leaked information he has published on the internet.

A major tenet of American journalism is that reporters protect their sources. Wikileaks is certainly not a traditional news organization, but Greene’s persistent attempts to get Assange to violate confidentiality was alarming, especially considering that there has been no challenge to the authenticity of the material in question.

“After much experimentation and discussion, we’ve concluded that the comment sections on NPR.org stories are not providing a useful experience for the vast majority of our users. In order to prioritize and strengthen other ways of building community and engagement with our audience, we will discontinue story-page comments on NPR.org on August 23

I can understand, it’s tough to make a sales pitch for a bad product. It’s even harder when people are talking about the problems.

Quote Of The Day

“The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent mistakes from being corrected. Even when the revolutionist might himself repent of his revolution, the traditionalist is already defending it as part of his tradition. Thus we have two great types — the advanced person who rushes us into ruin, and the retrospective person who admires the ruins. He admires them especially by moonlight, not to say moonshine. Each new blunder of the progressive or prig becomes instantly a legend of immemorial antiquity for the snob. This is called the balance, or mutual check, in our Constitution.”
