AP Voter Survey May Have Good News

The CNN exit polling I wrote about earlier showed largely expected data, and the AP Survey released recently has largely the same information.

However, there is a bit of data buried in the report that may temper some of the depression amongst Republicans.

Health care and immigration were high on voters’ minds as they cast ballots in the midterm elections, according to a wide-ranging survey of the American electorate conducted by The Associated Press.

AP VoteCast also shows a majority of voters considered President Donald Trump a factor in their votes.

A majority of voters overall say the country is headed in the wrong direction. Still, about two-thirds say the economy is good.

That last bit is an admission of something big: People recognize that the economy is doing better while Trump is president. Whether they correlate the two is not asked, and it’s impossible to determine if they do. However, that recognition does bode better for the GOP than some of the other data points in the polling.
