Ronan Farrow, one of the two authors of a New Yorker story detailing a second alleged assault by Brett Kavanaugh, is pushing back on an earlier claim that multiple outlets “passed” on reporting the story (a claim also published here at RedState).

A tweet (now deleted) by Huffington Post reporter Yashar Ali listed the New York Times, Washington Post, and NBC as some of the other outlets who were working on the story. However, they ended up not publishing anything, and Farrow, along with Jane Mayer, ended up writing the full story at the New Yorker, and it was published on Sunday evening.

On Monday, Farrow pushed back on the claim that other outlets “passed.”

It is a significant claim and changes the narrative a bit about the origin of the accusation. The biggest question on both sides, however, is still over whether or not it will have an impact.

On the right, conservatives are further entrenched, seeing the second allegation as proof of a major conspiracy to derail the Kavanaugh nomination at any cost. On the left, the allegation is further proof that the nomination should be stalled until an investigation can be completed.

As of now, however, it is unclear what the Senate GOP will do.
