Lena Dunham Says Her Abortion Wish Was Just A "Distasteful Joke"

On a recent episode of her podcast, “Women of the Hour,” Lena Dunham said her regretted that she didn’t hadn’t had an abortion in order to do her part to “de-stigmatize” the murder of a child. Naturally, people who realize how truly abhorrent abortions are were outraged. It even drew mainstream attention, and largely negative at that.

In fact, she received so much negative attention that she issued an apology for the comment, which she called a “joke.”

My latest podcast episode was meant to tell a multifaceted story about reproductive choice in America, to explain the many reasons women do or don’t choose to have children and what bodily autonomy really means. I’m so proud of the medley of voices in the episode. I truly hope a distasteful joke on my part won’t diminish the amazing work of all the women who participated.

After her controversial comments came to light, Dunham said they came from a “sort of ‘delusional girl’ persona.”

Yes, I would say that only a “delusional girl” would actually want to have had an abortion sometime in her life. What kind of sociopathic mind comes up with this, and what kind of fool would actually believe this was merely a joke and not the true thoughts of an advocate of baby murder.
