When I write on a subject and if I don’t already know enough about “background,” I tend to spend a fair amount of time researching it to lay a foundation. With the lean toward DEI in our military and the hunt by officers to out-woke the next commander, laying a foundation isn’t much of a challenge for this subject.
My colleague Strieff recently wrote about a Major who pretends he’s a woman. Major Jones is a man – but “identifies” as a woman. Major Jones has a sagging chin, receding hairline, and an ample midsection. The Major is obviously overweight. Could he pass a physical fitness test designed for a man? Probably not. And Jones or any other man pretending to be a woman in the military is likely “exempt” from the standard after their manhood is removed. Could he be fired? In theory, yes; in reality, no. Although not meeting standards could result in being processed for discharge, there is little to no chance that a commander would do so if that commander had any desire for promotion. Not now.
Recruitment is in the tank:
A Death Spiral
Defense Data for FY2023 show most military services are sucking swamp water.
Army: 69 percent of its goal
Navy: 60 percent of its goal.
Air Force: 87 percent of its goal.
Marine Corps: 100 percent of its goal.
Space Force: 100 percent of its goal.
A core group of men and women are no longer considering the military as a career goal or even as a first step to a better life. When you castigate people for being a certain race and gender, don’t be surprised when they don’t want to be in your organization.
The Air Force employs a lot of pilots. If you make a mistake flying, you sometimes don’t go home for dinner. Mistakes can be fatal. What is a priority for the Air Force? Pride in being gay, transgender, or a two-bear spirit. Merit be damned. My buddy SisterTodjah noted:
Take, for instance, the United States Air Force Twitter account. On Wednesday, they posted a tweet celebrating Pride Month, and – incredibly – it depicted a U.S. soldier saluting not the American flag, but a Pride flag.
June is #PrideMonth! The Department of the Air Force proudly recognizes and celebrates generations of LGBTQI+ service members and their contributions to our #AirForce & #SpaceForce. pic.twitter.com/lQi9lH5sdr

What’s next? Tell a vast swath of the population it is no longer welcome in the Air Force. We need diversity for diversity’s sake. Diversity is our strength – skill and merit are secondary. No white guys need to apply for the Civil Air Patrol. The sky is blue, but for Col. Mark Wootan, it is way too white — and male.
Colonel Mark Wooten of the USAF Civil Air Patrol says the only guidance he puts out there for (them) is to “stop hiring middle aged white people…especially dudes.” pic.twitter.com/KF52Q8tWIH

Looking for the best person for the job? That is so 20th Century. Meritocracy is no longer critical in a life-or-death job. Wootan made his remarks last year, but in today’s military, a shortcut to promotion is to get on board with DEI. Get rid of white guys.
Mark Milley sat for a congressional hearing and infamously blubbered about “white rage” and that “woke” isn’t a thing. He said:
I want to understand white rage, and I’m white. And I want to understand it. … I’ve read Mao Zedong. I’ve read Karl Marx. I’ve read Lenin. That doesn’t make me a communist.
So what is wrong with understanding, having some situational understanding about the country for which we are here to defend? And I personally find it offensive that we are accusing the United States military, our general officers, our commissioned, non-commissioned officers, of being ‘woke’ or something else because we’re studying some theories that are out there.
Whoever takes over for Milley should know that Col. Wootan gets it. He understands his orders. He’s on board, Sir. He wants congressional approval of his star. One problem, Colonel: You’re a middle-aged white guy. Combat experience? Merit? Meh. You’re white — time to move over for DEI.
Buckel up. We are in for a hard landing.
