Megan Rapinoe Announces Retirement—Good, and Good Riddance

No one loves Megan Rapinoe like Megan Rapinoe loves Megan Rapinoe.

She’s been in the spotlight for years now – with ESPN’s social justice warriors clambering over themselves to pat her on the back and forward her agenda. She was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Joe Biden, because why not? That award has no meaning any longer. Barack Obama gave one to Joe Biden at the end of his presidency. It was supposed to be his “go-away” gold watch. Like Obama’s Nobel and Biden Medal, Rapinoe was given one of the nation’s highest citizen awards because of her big mouth. And because of what side she is on: the obnoxious left.

Because the US Women’s National Team won a couple of World Cups, the spotlight every four years was on them. They were lots of women on those teams far more talented and gifted than Rapinoe, but she got the spotlight. Four years ago, during the last World Cup, with her skills clearly in decline, she nonetheless held the spotlight again – taking penalty kicks and “winning” the Golden Boot for scoring the most. She got “free” goals because the coach of the team put her in that position. Was she the best player on the field to take the penalty shots? Not by a long shot, but she took them.

In June of 2019, the US team played Thailand. Thailand was a little bit worse than awful. The US team scored goal after goal after goal—13 in total—with four forwards. Meaning the team intended to pile on against a garage team. Who led the way in bad sportsmanship? Rapinoe, of course. She celebrated as if they had just won the World Cup in the final 30 seconds of the final. Every. Damn. Goal. And there was Rapinoe posing for the camera. It was shameful but expected from her.

Here is a video of Rapinoe paying attention to Rapinoe, not the fan who asked for her autograph.

No one loves Rapinoe like Rapinoe.

She’s refused to stand for the national anthem and has folded her arms behind her back in protest for… not getting paid as much as the men. During numerous games, she was seen kneeling for the national anthem, apparently protesting for BLM. Teammates on America’s National Team have their hands over their hearts. One teammate is black.

Her latest stunt was to support fake women taking a roster spot from actual women. My buddy Sister Toldjah discussed Rapinoe’s absurd position. Rapinoe was a signer of an open letter that stated:

Right now, transgender and intersex human rights are under attack, with politicians in Washington D.C. pushing forward H.R. 734, the so-called “Protection of Girls and Women in Sports Act”, which would stipulate that Title IX compliance requires banning transgender and intersex girls and women from participating in sports. If this bill passes, transgender and intersex girls and women throughout the country will be forced to sit on the sidelines, away from their peers and their communities. Furthermore, the policing of who can and cannot play school sports will very likely lead to the policing of the bodies of all girls, including cisgender girls. This will deter girls from participating in sports and create additional barriers. Denying children access to a place where they can gain significant mental and physical health benefits, and learn lifelong lessons that come from being part of a team and working hard towards your goals does not protect women in sports.

We believe that gender equity in sports is critical, which is why we urge policymakers to turn their attention and effort to the causes women athletes have been fighting for decades, including equal pay, an end to abuse and mistreatment, uneven implementation of Title IX, and a lack of access and equity for girls of color and girls with disabilities, to name only a few.

Our deepest hope is that transgender and intersex kids will never have to feel the isolation, exclusion and othering that H.R. 734 is seeking to enshrine into law.

Rapinoe is a champion of women’s sports, played by men.

Although she shouldn’t be on the World Cup roster, she is. The decision was made by the coaching staff, and the reason for her roster spot is pure politics. On Saturday, Rapinoe announced that she was “retiring” after this World Cup. All the usual sites that push politics and nonsense in sports announced her retirement like she was Michael Jordan stepping away from basketball. She’s not. Not even close.

She’s not a star in any sense, and even the limited skills she had ten years ago are gone. ESPN wants the world to treat her retirement like she is a Jordan or a Serena Williams. She isn’t. She’s an obnoxious jerk, and the world of sports will be better without her big mouth and garbage opinions.

Good riddance, Rapinoe. No one loves Rapinoe like Rapinoe.
