With everyone fawning over Roseanne Barr because her character is pro-Trump in her rebooted sitcom everyone is bandwagoning, especially those who normally tell us they don’t care what Hollywood celebrities think about politics.
With all the attention she’s getting from the #MAGA crowd, this tweet was like dangling a television camera in front of Chuck Schumer.

But hey, Sean Hannity will do more than just have you on the show, Roseanne. He’ll just give you the whole thing whenever you want.

I don’t think Roseanne is a bush leaguer who is cynically glomming onto the #MAGA momentum to build her audience. I only caught some of her show’s premier, but what I saw was pretty funny—particularly the parts that weren’t political. (Read SmoozieQ’s rundown on the show for insight into why it works.)
Roseanne is a pro and using whatever publicity she can get to make her show a success but I don’t think she needs to suck up to the Fox News nation. Roseanne is a big enough name and a big enough talent to succeed with the show, which was already a runaway hit for years in its previous incarnation.
I also don’t think Roseanne is someone we should pay a lot of attention to on political issues. She’s doing her Trump thing now but it wasn’t too long ago she was running for President herself on the “Peace and Freedom Party” ticket with her runningmate Cindy Sheehan, darling of the CodePink crowd.
Remember when @therealroseanne ran for president on the socialist Peace and Freedom Party ticket with leftist anti war activist Cindy Sheehan? That was just in 2012. https://t.co/mnKgGjOsQL

Roseanne’s core political principles are probably even more fluid than Donald Trump’s.
Those who follow her Twitter feed know that Roseanne Barr, the 59-year-old actress and comedian, has been running for president for a year now. Originally, she promoted herself as the standard-bearer of the Green Party.
Now, her White House quest has taken a different turn. She announced Thursday that she will run for president on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket. Her running mate, Barr said in a news release, will be Cindy Sheehan, whose son,U.S. Army Spec. Casey Sheehan, was killed in Iraq in 2004. In August 2005, the Gold Star mother mounted a lonely antiwar protest outside President George W. Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas.
“The American people are sick and tired of this ‘lesser evil’ garbage they get fed every election year,” Barr said via the news release. “Both the Democrats and the Republicans do the same evils once they’re in office. I’m here to tell the voters: if you want to tell the government and the two domineering parties that you’re sick and tired of all their evil, register in the Peace and Freedom Party and vote for me and Cindy.”
In the release, Sheehan, who was vilified by the right for her Crawford vigil, said she was honored to be selected as Barr’s running mate. “I am excited about the chance to infuse the message of socialism with the heart and soul that is missing from political discourse,” she said.
The Peace and Freedom Party was founded in Los Angeles in 1967. It came about after demonstrators protesting the Vietnam War were attacked by police in Century City, where President Lyndon B. Johnson was holding a fundraiser, and has struggled ever since to qualify for ballot status.
The party’s first presidential nominee, in 1968, was Eldridge Cleaver, the Black Panther. In 1972, Benjamin Spock, the renowned pediatrician, headed the ticket. Four years ago, the party’s presidential nominee, Ralph Nader, appeared on ballots in only two states, California and Iowa.
Back in 2012 Hannity wasn’t too keen on Roseanne, though lately he’s changed his tune regarding entertainers with no track record leading the country.

All it takes to get certain people super-excited is to be famous and say things they agree with on TV, Facebook, or Twitter. Self described conservatives will say shut up and sing/act/dance/whatever to leftist celebrity voices and say their position in pop culture doesn’t give them any special authority or expertise on politics. Let a celebrity say something they agree with though and they behave as if they’re hearing the sermon on the mount. It’s embarrassing.
If you still needed proof that Hannity’s show has become vapid entertainment for unconditionally loyal Trump fans then you are probably part of his target audience.
