Parents using their kids as political props is pretty awful, but this example is downright repulsive.  The whole “woke” children phenomenon that occurs across the political spectrum is something that needs to die in a fire, but the obvious intent of this stunt makes it especially despicable.

A pro-Trump super PAC arranged for a 12-year-old girl to interview Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore (R) as he faces mounting allegations of sexual misconduct with teenage girls.

The America First Project brought Millie March, a girl whose interviews during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) went viral, to Alabama to interview Moore.

“We decided that we were going to bring Millie to Alabama, after everything that’s happened in this Alabama Senate race up until this point,” America First Project’s Jennifer Lawrence said in the video, adding that the group wanted “to show there is a wide range of people who support Roy Moore.”

That’s a lie. They didn’t just want to show that a wide range of people supports Roy Moore. They wanted to get video of Roy Moore sitting with a 12-year-old girl and not trying to have sex with her.

This was all about manufacturing optics for the Moore campaign.

Naturally, there’s a big One America News screen behind them. They’re the same folks who attempted to say Moore’s accusers were all in league with drug dealers.

Somewhere along the way, people decided that when a child appears to espouse a political philosophy they agree with, it was cause for publicity. Even though it’s likely that the child understands relatively little of what they’re repeating, many on the right launch kids and teens to brief Fox News stardom. I have nothing against Millie March but she’s a minor child who shouldn’t be used by her parents or whomever else in order to prop up a candidate who has been accused of crimes against children.

March said after the interview that she would vote for Moore in the election.

Look, everyone. Moore can’t have preyed upon underage girls because here’s an underage girl who says she’d vote for him if she could!

I have nothing against Millie March but she’s a minor child who shouldn’t be used by her parents or anyone else in order to prop up a candidate who has been accused of crimes against children–crimes she probably doesn’t even fully comprehend. She’s not freely giving her support. She’s performing for to get approval from adults who should know better than to exploit her.

She. Is. A. Child.

Even if every single allegation against Roy Moore is completely false, this sort of exploitation of children is disgusting. Sadly, I can’t say that it is in any way surprising though.
