Who better to tackle the climate change issue than a socialist who pretended to be a Democrat and an engineer who made a career out of pretending to be a scientist.
Bernie Sanders and Bill Nye in one Facebook Live broadcast? There must be a fanboy squee-fest going on over at Reddit. If they had included Neil Degrasse Tyson millennials would be screaming like teen girls when the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan.
Some of the comments will make you weep for America’s future.
No.
That analysis probably came straight from a video his 5th grade teacher played for him and he never questioned it.
The weird part of the video is that the socialist and the pretend scientist come right out of the gate talking about economics, as if that’s their area of expertise. It’s the same green jobs schtick that we’ve been hearing since Al Gore ran for president, even before the Solyndra boondoggle. In reality it’s just a weak attempt to reframe the issue in the hopes Donald Trump can be convinced to change his mind. Somehow I doubt the President is going to see any of this though.
Bill Nye talks about “The Solutions Project.”
“The Solutions Project is a group of civil engineers who have done an analysis that shows we can power the entire U.S. renewably, right now if we just decided to do it.”
Civil engineers? Back in engineering school, power generation was the domain of electrical and mechanical engineers. Civil engineers were mostly trained at making things stand still. (The old joke was that the difference between mechanical engineers and civil engineers is that mechanical engineers build weapons and civil engineers build targets.)
That’s not to say there’s no civil engineering involved in some of the so-called green energy projects, but it is at the very least a multi-disciplinary problem. That Nye cites a “group of civil engineers” suggests he doesn’t know this or doesn’t care as long as their results support what he wants.
“By that I mean we’d have wind turbines, solar panels, some geothermal, and some tidal energy. If we exploited all these things aggressively and reconfigured our electric grid a little bit, we could run the whole place.
“Here’s the thing about it that I find intriguing and important is these would be U.S. jobs.”
Because creating jobs is the real reason the Chicken Littles want to upend the entire economy and leave us living in the cold and the dark.
As for Bernie Sanders, anyone who thinks you can provide free college to anyone who wants it without sending the quality and availability of higher education into the toilet is not a person who is rational enough to trust on scientific matters.
Sadly, the discussion between these two unqualified men is receiving millions of views and superlative comments. One wants to be everyone’s daddy with deep pockets picking up the check for everything and the other is exploiting his position as a pleasant childhood memory for millions in order to advance a political agenda.
