An illegal alien who had previously escaped from custody was shot by federal law enforcement officers in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning after he rammed his vehicle into a federal law enforcement vehicle in an effort to avoid arrest. A U.S. Marshal who was assisting ICE agents with the immigration enforcement operation was also injured.
DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin released the following statement regarding the incident:
“This is a developing situation and information is preliminary: During a targeted enforcement traffic stop in the Los Angeles area, an illegal alien—who had previously escaped from custody—attempted to evade arrest yet again. ICE law enforcement officers, assisted by U.S. Marshals, pulled the illegal alien over in a standard law enforcement procedure. The illegal alien weaponized his vehicle and began ramming the law enforcement vehicle in an attempt to flee. Fearing for the safety of the public and law enforcement, our officers followed their training and fired defensive shots. The illegal alien was shot in the elbow and one law enforcement officer was shot in the hand by a ricochet bullet. Both are in the hospital.
“These are the consequences of conduct and rhetoric by sanctuary politicians and activists who urge illegal aliens to resist arrest. Resisting arrest puts the safety of illegal aliens, law enforcement, and the public at risk. Our law enforcement officers are facing a more than 1000% increase in assaults against them including vehicle rammings by illegal aliens. We are once again calling on sanctuary politicians, agitators, and the media to turn the temperature down and stop calling for violence and resistance against ICE law enforcement.”
An unnamed "law enforcement source" gave CNN a very different, and nearly incomprehensible, version of events.
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent’s weapon discharged when the agent tried to grab an individual who apparently rammed into a vehicle that was part of a team of ICE and US marshals engaged in immigration enforcement, a law enforcement source tells CNN.
Though a gunshot wound to the elbow isn't known to be particularly lethal, that same source told CNN that the illegal alien was "gravely wounded" so, predictably, anti-ICE "protesters" have already started to gather at the hospital where the criminal is being treated.

No word yet as to whether Joseph "Ellie" Sanchez, the Los Angeles-based Antifa lunatic whose tough guy act quickly melted away after he was arrested in Portland a few weeks ago, has shown up yet. Sanchez again made news over the weekend when he falsely claimed that the LAPD ran over him during a "No Kings" protest.

Fox News' Bill Melugin is reporting that a U.S. Marshal and a "target illegal alien" were both shot Tuesday morning during an immigration enforcement operation in Los Angeles.

We are told federal agents boxed in a target, a ramming incident occurred, Feds fired weapons, target alien was hit in elbow and a U.S. Marshal was hit in hand in what initially appears to be a possible ricochet.
Both have non life threatening injuries and are at the hospital.
