White smoke emerged from the Vatican Thursday afternoon, and after what seemed like a very long hour we learned that the new Pope is Cardinal Robert Prevost, an American from Chicago, who has taken the name Pope Leo XIV.

Of course, the reactions from social media poured in.

Being that Prevost is a Chicago native, the topics of Da Bears and Chicago pizza made an appearance:

SooperMexican disputed that notion, though.

Chicago deep dish, Neapolitan, or Sicilian? Oof, loaded question.

Despite a trove of liberal posts on Prevost's X account, it appears that he's a registered Republican.

Given the stance of the Democrat party on abortion, this should be a no-brainer.
