UPDATE: 1 Suspect Dead, 1 in Custody After Shootout With Seattle Police

Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole said two officers were shot while responding to a robbery near the waterfront Thursday afternoon.

The officers were taken to Harboview Medical Center with what O’Toole initially said appeared to be minor injuries. Hospital officials have now stated that is not the case.

Harborview Medical Center identified the shooting victims as a 42-year-old female officer who was listed in satisfactory condition and a 30-year-old male in critical condition.

The male officer’s injuries are considered life-threatening.

Two suspects have been taken into custody, one with “significant injuries,” and authorities are searching for a third suspect.

UPDATE 4:30 p.m. PDT

One of the suspects, a 19-year-old male, has died, according to KOMO.

Additional information regarding the circumstances has become available. Officers responding to a robbery call around 1 p.m. and were in a physical altercation with two male suspects when a female hit an officer on the head with a bottle.

The robbery suspects fled, and as officers chased him he opened fire and hit three officers. Two officers were taken to Harborview Medical Center, where one officer was reported to be in critical condition. His condition has since been upgraded to serious and stable.
