SEAL-Turned-Senator Saves the Day When a Spicy Protester Fights Capitol Police

Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-MT) had to take off his senator hat in order to put back on his armed forces one. At Wednesday's Senate Armed Services subcommittee hearing, a protester decided to loudly disrupt the proceedings, and refused to be removed.

Anti-war protester Brian McGinnis, who also happens to be the Green Party candidate running for U.S. Senate in North Carolina, was festooned in his Marine uniform while he mounted his protest against Operation Epic Fury. McGinnis's bio indicates he did one tour of duty from 2000 to 2004 before being honorably discharged.

The Capitol Police attempted to remove McGinnis from the hearing room in order to stop his incessant disruptions, but they were not successful because McGinnis tightly gripped the door jamb while shouting, "No one wants to fight for Israel!" The CP could not break his grip.

This is when Sheehy stepped into action. Sheehy exited the dais and moved to assist the Capitol Police. When McGinnis still would not release his grip on the door jamb, Sheehy used a maneuver that forced the protestor to release his grip on the door. This allowed the Capitol Police to get McGinnis upright in order to escort him out.

Here's the crazy on top of the crazy. While Sheehy was working his jujitsu (or whatever he did) on McGinnis' hand, other protesters screamed, "Let go of his hand!" "The Senator broke his hand!" "A U.S. Senator just broke the hand of a Marine!"

At this time, we don't know whether or not McGinnis' hand was broken, but it appears his ego was.

A junior senator, Sheehy famously defeated former Sen. John Tester (D), an almost 20-year incumbent, in 2024. That alone makes Sheehy a badass, but his military record further proves it. Sheehy graduated from the Naval Academy where he was part of the U.S. Army Special Operations Exchange program. He spent a year attached to the Army Special Operations Command where he completed Airborne School, Ranger Regiment Indoctrination Training, Ranger School, and two joint tours with the 75th Ranger Regiment and 5th Special Forces Group.

After graduation from the Naval Academy, Sheehy decided he wanted to complete SEAL training. He was assigned to a Naval Special Warfare Unit and deployed on his first operational assignment days after he earned his SEAL Trident.

Sheehy's X account also posted the video with his commentary.

Capitol Police were attempting to remove an unhinged protestor from the Armed Services hearing. He was fighting back. I decided to help out and deescalate the situation.

This gentleman came to the Capitol looking for a confrontation, and he got one. I hope he gets the help he needs without causing further violence.
