RedState has highlighted and condemned the level of vitriol from the usual suspects in legacy media and the left over the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Sadly, it is to be expected. When it comes to conservative and right-leaning figures who are articulate, effective, and reality-based, the depth of their hatred knows no floor. Whether they wished for Kirk's death or not, they certainly don't feel bad about it and they're not going to pretend otherwise.
However, what is unexpected is when these same actors decide to attack his grieving widow. Whatever one thinks of Kirk and his work, a young woman and mother who just lost her husband should elicit, if not some degree of compassion, a measure of silence.

'We Will Never Surrender': Erika Kirk Delivers Powerful Words to America After Her Husband's Killing
Someone didn't give Wajahat Ali the memo. Ali has written for CNN, The Daily Beast, the New York Times, all the august legacy media publications </sarc>. Now, Ali peddles his leftist wares on his Substack page, "The Left Hook," and invites his fellow left-wing lunatics on his "Democracy-ish" podcast. One recent podcast episode featured the former MSNBC hostess Joy Reid, who opined about how racist and terrible America is, while enjoying her cash payout from her canceled show that would only be possible in America.
Our sister site Twitchy laid out Ali's nuclear-grade KDS after the news that Kirk had first been shot, and then when it was announced that he had been assassinated.
After the obligatory 'This is what you get with all those guns, but I hope he's okay' post, Wajahat followed with a flurry of posts saying what he really thought. His response to Kirk's death included:
- Charlie was a right-wing hatemonger
- Democrats are actually the ones who condemn political violence. Republicans don't.
- Charlie was a white nationalist
- Charlie was a racist
- Joked that Trump should send the National Guard to Utah to prevent murders
But two days after the murder, when Kirk's widow Erika bravely chose to speak to the American people, and all those who honored and believed in her husband and the TPUSA movement, Ali all but said, "Hold my keffiyeh." This deranged twatwaffle decided it was the perfect opportunity to sneer and malign Erika Kirk and her motives in choosing to speak.
Erika Kirk is using her husband's death to promote Kirk's vehicle of hate, Turning Points USA.

Fascinating to watch this right now.
"Using her husband's death?" Seriously? What widow does that fresh from receiving her beloved husband's casket? More pivotal question: what type of sick mind would cast that aspersion? As UT Gov. Spencer Cox encouraged people, Dude, go touch some grass.
Fox News contributor Mary Katherine Ham, who has the lived experience of being a young widow herself when her first husband died and she had young children to raise, was one of the first to call Ali out on this.
A widow for TWO DAYS and this. Monstrous. https://t.co/1zARAxLCp2

Exactly. First of all, you give grace and space for the person who grieves. Second, people are allowed to say what they need to say (or not) as they navigate that grief. How ungracious and arrogant do you have to be to not allow for that?
She’s vowing to protect his legacy.

I really don’t you how you sleep at night, you self-righteous insufferable little prig.
But Ali doesn't care about being called out on foul behavior or ratioed. He used it as his excuse to double down on his criticisms of Erika Kirk and MAGA, then promoed his latest offering on his Substack.
"On MAGA's Hypocrisy, Charlie Kirk and TPUSA's Mission of Hate, and Erika Kirk's Disturbing Address"
— Wajahat Ali (@WajahatAli) September 13, 2025
MAGA is trying to use my critiques of Erika Kirk's address to gaslight America from their hypocrisy, cruelty, and hate, but I refuse to bend the knee and stay silent.

Instead, I bring receipts.
Ali has written all types of theories and now-debunked nonsense about Groypers and how Kirk's murderer is a MAGA conservative. But that has not stopped him from his conspiracy theory-laced, condemnation campaign. Ali rationalizes that as a journalist he has the right to critique and tear down what a grieving widow has to say. What makes it even more repugnant, Ali now claims aggrieved status for what is essentially the worst behavior.
I refuse to be intimidated, bullied, or cowed by hypocritical, right-wing bigots who demand civility but dispense only cruelty.
For the past two days, I have urged my readers and viewers not to give an inch to all the bad-faith attacks by MAGA, trying to silence, shame, and smear individuals who have criticized Charlie Kirk’s legacy of hatred.
[...]
On Friday night, Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, made a sixteen-minute televised address. I happened to catch it live on YouTube. I was expecting her to share moving stories about her husband and mourn his tragic murder. She discussed that and how she had to break the horrible news to their daughter. But then the video took a strange, disturbing turn. It resembled a polished infomercial for Turning Points USA, Kirk’s hate group and platform that he used to bully and ridicule women, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, Muslims, people of color, and liberals. She also promoted Christian nationalist talking points and said their "battle is not just a political one, but it is spiritual. Spiritual Warfare."
A polished infomercial? Only a tiny mind and an even tinier soul could come up with that one.
Out of the possible universe of reactions to Erika Kirk's speech, you have perhaps chosen one of the worst available.

Thank you for driving even more people away from the left.
One knows where this uncalled for, and unnecessary ugliness comes from. When one lacks any moral or spiritual grounding themselves, they resent, envy, and seek to destroy the moral center and solid grounding upon which others stand. Say what you will about Charlie and Erika Kirk, their center is solid; throughout years-long observation and coverage of the work at TPUSA, Kirk's presentations on campuses, and the couples interactions with one another and others, both have moral center and spiritual foundation in spades. But what does Wajahat Ali have? His snark, rage, resentment, and quest to destroy right-wing "hypocrisy and cruelty." We see how far that has gotten him.
Ali is using his campaign against conservatives, Donald Trump, and MAGA as an excuse to tear apart a grieving widow. That doesn't make you a champion of truth, it makes you a douchebag.
