My colleague Andrew Malcolm, a veteran political journalist, not to mention an exceptional writer and sage, had this take on Clintonista Rahm Emanuel, most recently fresh off his stint as Ambassador to Japan for the Biden administration.
The man’s name is Rahm Emanuel.
He went on to help guide William Jefferson Clinton through that campaign, the Gennifer Flowers mess, and others.
He became a senior White House adviser, then a millionaire investment banker, a three-term House member, the strategic architect of Democrats’ 2006 House takeover, chief of staff to President Barack Obama, two-term mayor of Chicago, and U.S. ambassador to Japan. Not many have such a resume.
Now, the 65-year-old Emanuel is stopping by to talk politics with select D.C. media types, showing up as a speaker virtually anywhere that invites him, and appearing consistently on TV with the likes of Bill Maher.
It’s almost as if Rahm Emanuel is running for something. Of course, that’s ridiculous and unseemly this far out from 2028.
Truth is, though, you don’t just up and run for president. It takes years of spadework, helping others in midterms, polishing marketable positions, publicizing yourself, cultivating rich donors. The latter is much easier if your brother is Ari Emanuel, Hollywood A-list agent.
If you ask Emanuel now about running for office again, as he hopes you will, his response is: “I’m not done with public service, and I’m hoping public service is not done with me.”
In 2012, when Emanuel mounted his first run for Chicago mayor, former President Bill Clinton backed his candidacy, waxing eloquently on Emanuel's tenure in the Clinton administration.
He was always concerned about how you can take an idea that was new and actually make it work. Talk is cheap in politics and business and life. Anybody can say anything. It’s quite another thing to turn your good intentions into real changes. When he was very young – before he ever got elected to anything – Rahm was good at figuring out how to take a good idea and turn it into a real change.
Clinton is correct, but it's not the change any of us believes in. Even more troubling, Emanuel is not just a changemaker who gets things done: he's an innovative chameleon. Like a reptile, he sheds his skin and comes out on top of the food chain. Every. Single. Time. Case-in-point. He was a terrible mayor of Chicago, and the city was worsened on his two-term watch. But no one remembers this because Emanuel made the pretense of slinking off into the sunset and even took his "public service" out of the country, thus allowing Lori Lightfoot and now Brandon Johnson to do their damage and inherit that "worst" mantle.
Emanuel is definitely making moves, and the man who innovated flooding the media zone is doing exactly that. On Tuesday, he made an appearance on the "I've Had It" podcast, hosted by two liberal white women named Jennifer Welch and Angie "Pumps" Sullivan. Both women appear to have had too much Botox and have too much money and time on their hands. So, they decided infecting the world with their brand of humor was the way to go. It seems to be resonating with somebody, because they also take their show on the road to packed audiences. We are so starved for entertainment that bitching and moaning over minor things is now the height of hilarity? Go figure.
In 2023, the TODAY Show promoted the podcast, and Welch and her co-host described what they did as "High-quality Trash Talking" and that their show offered, "Episode upon episode of unmitigated rage." Yeah, that describes the Affluent White Liberal Female (AWFL) well. Changing the name of their podcast to "Just Awful" would be more accurate branding. Welch is from Oklahoma, so I guess she is attempting to be a blue dot in a pool of red, bravely resisting the MAGA agenda.
Spare me.
Emanuel attempted to discuss with Welch where Democrats got it wrong. When he hit the target of Democrats fighting to allow men in women's bathrooms, that's where the conversation went off the rails.
EMANUEL: We were really south on kitchen-table issues, we weren't really good about the family room issues.
WELCH: I disagree with you, I disagree with you 100, million percent.
EMANUEL: The only room we did really well was the bathroom, and that's the smallest room in the house.
Emanuel handled the exchange with his signature charm and humor. Unlike Democrat Strategist and fellow Clintonista James Carville, Emanuel plays to the calm warrior vibe rather than the angry curmudgeon. After he made this comment, Welch became unhinged (shocker), dialing it to 11.
WARNING: Welch is part of the Democrat crowd that considers salty language a convenient replacement for actual facts.
WELCH: That is such bull****, that is total bull****. That is buying into the right-wing media narrative. And I'm so sick of Democrats like you selling out and saying this. You know who talks about trans people more than anybody? MAGA. MAGA is the most genital-obsessed political party I have ever seen.
Who is the party that has pushed laws forcing parents to give their children puberty blockers and cut their body parts off? Projection much, Jennifer? Welch continued, diving further into delusion and derangement.
WELCH: Kamala Harris talked about home ownership. She talked about kitchen-table issues. Trump's over there droning on about Hannibal Lecter. Are you kidding me? This is where the Democrats lose, because we're playing the game with the rule book, they've ripped the rule book up and have crammed it down everybody's throat.
That's hilarious. Democrats pushed out a sitting president who had won all his primaries and planned to run for his second term, and replaced him with his vice president, who hadn't won a single thing except the intersectional Olympics. From Hillary-Bernie to Biden-Kamala, Democrats torched any rulebook they had a long time ago. Cry more, Jennifer.
Emanuel attempted to calmly interject, but the AWFL Welch just devolved further into being, well... awful.
WELCH: And Democrats are upset because Joe Biden pardoned his son! We've gotta f@ck*ng fight, they're the gender-obsessed weirdos, not us. We're the ones who fight for Social Security, we fight for Medicare, and yeah, we're not going to bully trans people, we're not going to f@ck*n do it. If you want to do it, fine...
Emanuel was finally able to get a word in edgewise.
EMANUEL: I'm not, again, let me say this, as Mayor, 2016, I dealt with the bathroom issue; it's just not my most important issue. It was dealt with and I appropriately dealt with it. Dealt with marriage equality, as I said.
Like a dog with a bone, Welch just wouldn't let it go.
WELCH: Well, it's certainly important to the Republicans. For me it's just important not to bully them. And I think this —
EMANUEL: I agree with you, I'm not disagreeing.
WELCH: — is the death knell of the Democrats. It upsets me, it upsets me so much...
EMANUEL: I can tell.
WELCH: We live here in the red state and you see the damage of it. When I see politicians that are supposed to be leaders in the Democratic Party buy into the narrative that Republicans have defined us by instead of fighting, saying, 'You're the weirdos that are obsessed with it," yeah, we're not going to bully some trans kid. And we buy into their narrative. It's just... it's why I think we lose. We have to live, I have to live in a state where women—rape victims can't get an abortion because of this bull****.
And so I'm going to fight till the bitter in and I'm not going to let some MAGA Moron define what progressive values are. And I think it's a really dangerous precedent, Mr. Emanuel, I'm sorry. But I just... I have to push back, and I'm not some coastal, elite liberal.
Sure, Jan.
Here's the entire exchange. Again, language warning.

Emanuel's conclusion was chef's kiss and shows just how formidable he would be should he run for president.
EMANUEL: Listen, you live where you choose to live. But I just gotta be honest with you. You keep talking about living in this red state craziness. You know, there is U-Haul if you want to move out. But I would just tell you this: My view is, there's a whole set of issues. These are side, tangential issues, they're not core.
During his tenure as President Barack Obama's Chief of Staff, Emanuel famously said,
You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before.
Democrats are clearly in crisis, with an average approval rating of around 29 percent. So, their embrace of illegal murderers, swear words, and vandalism is clearly not helping them. Emanuel has perfectly timed his re-entry into national politics in order to take full advantage of this, and this performance on a liberal podcast is just the appetizer. Emanuel presented himself as calm, reasonable, and sane next to the insanity being spewed by the host. This is exactly the image he wanted to cement, and why this exchange is now going viral.
Mark my words, Emanuel will exploit his bona fides as part of two winning Democrat presidential teams. The Clintons and then the Obamas succeeded in many things, but their biggest accomplishment was making the Democrat brand attractive, cool, and most importantly, successful. But it is also how we got Trump, which is probably not the success they anticipated. However, don't doubt Andrew Malcolm or me: Rahm Emanuel has grand plans, and a lot of money and connections, to usher in a third wave of Democrat dominance: whether he is at the top of the ticket or the puppet master working the strings remains to be seen.
Rahm 3.0 may be the most dangerous Rahm. Don't be fooled.
Editor's Note: The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject its globalist agenda.
