As CA Wildfires Torch His Political Career, Gavin Newsom Launches a Personal Fact-Check Site

California Governor Gavin Newsom is failing, and he knows it. Every time he does his usual gaslighting and tap dancing when confronted about his culpability in the state's failure to address the Los Angeles area wildfires, he gets slammed into a wall of facts. This is when he falls on his favorite canard of misinformation. Anything that challenges his view of reality must be false.

In a January 10 video conference call with Newsom, President Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris to address federal resources and help for the firefighters doing the work to take down the multiple wildfires wreaking destruction, Newsom babbles on about why he needs funding to combat misinformation.

You cannot make this stuff up.

WATCH:

Whether Newsom gets those federal funds for said cause of misinformation or not, he knows any funds he's getting will not be immediate and will now be sifted through a Republican-controlled Congress. Ever impatient, particularly when he's not in control, Newsom decided he must do his own fact policing. Newsom set up a site not through the Office of California Governor, but on his own campaign website, to distribute "fact-based data" about the Southern California wildfires

A lot of misinformation out there.

Just launched a new site to ensure the public has access to fact-based data around the Southern CA wildfires.

The TRUTH:

 - CA did NOT cut our firefighting budget. We have nearly doubled the size of our firefighting army and built the world’s largest aerial firefighting fleet.

- CA has INCREASED forest management ten-fold since we took office.

- California will NOT allow for looting.

Get the facts: http://californiafirefacts.com

Get the facts, Jack! Here are the facts about this site. Whether you read Newsom's hysterics about TRUTH, which is usually one of his X posts, at the top of the website is a button to donate to Cal Fire Foundation.

However, when you click the button, you are directed to a donation page that connects to ActBlue, the Democrat campaign finance arm.

Democrats are already under fire thanks to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and the Obama Bros at "Pod Save America" for pointing donations for the fire victims to the ActBlue site. A percentage of anything given through the finance arm automatically benefits the Democrat Party. Greasy Gavin is just being true to form.

What is so egregious about this tactic is that the California Fire Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization that takes its own donations on its own website. So, why not link to their website? Typical Newsom -- politicize a tragedy while capitalizing off Americans' goodwill toward its victims.

But what about all this misinformation? Is Newsom correct in his TRUTH to combat the lies?

We all know the answer to that one. Newsom declared in an interview that all the reservoirs were full, only to be reminded on live TV that the Santa Ynez reservoir, which should have supplied water to combat the Palisades Fire, was bone dry. As my colleague Nick Arama reported, one correspondent called him out on his own misinformation. Newsom claimed it was a lie that he cut forest management funding and that California has increased forest management 10-fold since he's been in office. CapRadio, a local media outlet, spilled the beans on this in 2021, three years into Newsom's first term.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers called for the hearing after an investigation from CapRadio and NPR’s California Newsroom revealed the Newsom administration had nixed a planned $500 million increase in wildfire prevention funding and overstated — by 690% — the number of acres treated through his “priority” wildfire prevention projects.

Democratic lawmakers said they are putting off their oversight efforts until after the wildfire season, in the fall or winter.

Yesterday's news? Hold his hair gel. In Newsom's second term, the 2024-25 budget cut another 100 million from fire prevention.

The 2024-25 California state budget, which Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law in June 2024, slashed funding for wildfire and forest resilience by $101 million as part of a series of cutbacks according to an analysis by the state's Legislative Analyst's Office.

Isn't it fascinating how all the lies and disinformation only point one way?

An even clearer sign Newsom is losing his misinformation war is that he is not really attacking lies, but attacking people. Newsom already spewed his resentment at Elon Musk, who as a former resident and business owner in California, called Newsom out on his failures and also has shown tremendous support to the victims and the firefighters.

Now, Newsom is directing his ire at Assemblyman Bill Essayli (R-Riverside), who has been a fierce critic of Newsom's lack of leadership. Essayli recently appeared on the podcast of Salem Media Group radio host Larry Elder to speak to this.

WATCH:

Newsom decided to play tit-for-tat, reposting Essayli, then pointing out the bills that supposedly addressed fire mitigation and management that Essayli voted against in the Assembly.

Newsom made sure he linked his fact-check website, of course. Among Newsom's delusions is this one: If he utters it out of his mouth or posts it on X, then that makes it so. The homegrown team in California's legacy media rarely challenges or fact-checks his voluminous falsehoods. There's a good reason why Essayli voted against those bills, and he reposted Newsom's "facts" with the truth: those bills were filled with incentives for the high-speed rail to nowhere, more homeless funding, and gifts to illegal immigrants.

Color us shocked.

No, Governor, I voted against your budget full of misplaced priorities and outrageous programs like free healthcare for illegal immigrants. Don’t blame Republicans for your mess.

You and the super-majority Democrat legislature passed a ridiculous budget that cut critical funding for wildfire prevention and instead funded:

- $5 billion annually to give illegal immigrants free healthcare

- $4.2 billion on a fraudulent high-speed rail project to nowhere

- $24 billion on homelessness programs with ZERO result

Guess Newsom was misinformed about who he was dealing with when he took on Essayli. Any presidential aspirations Newsom had are burning, with zero percent containment; despite his worst efforts and these claims of combatting misinformation, he has not been successful in putting out those flames.
