It is still sinking in. My colleague Sister Toldjah said it best:
“I am literally shaking, literally in tears. Never thought this would happen in my lifetime.”
Neither did I. I was seven years old when Roe v. Wade became law. Even that young, with my limited understanding, I could understand that something had gone horribly wrong with the world. I have had 48 years to see just how much. We have gone from “safe and legal,” with restrictions after 20 weeks, to Gosnell, harvesting baby parts, and infanticide.
Like so many others in this nation, I knew that Roe had to go. The escalating death, 63 million babies ripped from the womb, the fallacies and falsehoods on what constitutes life, our tax dollars going to the merchants of death Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), increased numbers in child abuse and child trafficking… I could go on and on about how that one Roe decision tore at the fabric of our nation.
Friday, June 24, 2022, in a 6-3 Supreme Court decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Roe v. Wade has finally been overturned. (6-3 to uphold the Mississippi law; 5-4 to overturn Roe, as Chief Justice Roberts disagreed with the Court deciding the broader question of whether the Constitution protects abortion.)
People celebrate outside the U.S. Supreme Court after the high court overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade case with its conservative majority.
Authority to regulate abortion rests with the political branches, not the courts, Justice Samuel Alito wrote. https://t.co/6jz4UclLqk pic.twitter.com/3GjRFlmS4Y

We cannot discount the prayers, blood, sweat, tears, and petitioning that went into seeing this happen, as well as the grassroots level activists who worked to establish state laws that support Life, in preparation for this day.
Where death spiraled with Roe, now that it is overturned, Life is taking precedence.
I'm hearing from clinic sources in Louisiana, Kentucky, Texas, Missouri that are halting abortions immediately (can't speak to ALL clinics in those states, but hearing from some) in response to SCOTUS decision. Also hearing Planned Parenthood has stopped abortions in Arkansas.

🚨 BREAKING 🚨 Following the SCOTUS ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, Missouri has just become the first in the country to effectively end abortion with our AG opinion signed moments ago. This is a monumental day for the sanctity of life. pic.twitter.com/Jphy72R4rq

Friday, June 24, 2022, marks the start of a post-Roe world. Those who have fought for and supported Life should be crying tears of joy, breathing sighs of relief, and taking victory laps. But once that is done, we have to continue to protect Life on all its fronts, because the death merchants and their allies will push back… and it won’t be pretty.
Now? Pro-lifers push as hard as possible for the elimination of illegal abortion. We double down on our efforts to help pro-life centers with our money and time. The work isn’t close to done

Here is how we can ensure they do not succeed in marring this huge victory:
Protect the people and organizations that continue to defend life.
I think of the pro-life and pregnancy resource centers, who are always under attack, but even more so since the leak of the Dobbs draft opinion in May.
Pro-life activist Lila Rose tweeted about “A Night of Rage.”
BREAKING: The Department of Homeland Security is communicating with Catholic Churches and pregnancy centers, telling them to be prepared for a "Night of Rage" by pro-abortion groups pledging "extreme violence" the night of the Dobbs decision.

Here is my call to the pro-freedom security companies in the nation. Can you not offer them protection services? How about the law-abiding and well-trained veterans in the community? Well-trained gun owners in the community? This will not be just one Night of Rage, trust me. The Left is anything if not relentless, and they will continue to try to make an example of the pro-life movement and its organizations. Let’s find a way to protect these important institutions because unexpected pregnancies and tragic circumstances that resulted in these abortion decisions in the first place are not going away. Now, more than ever, we need to defend the cause of Life and the right for these organizations to exist.
Support with Your Time, Talent, Treasure
Whether that be donating to one of these Life centers, working at a Life center, or continuing to pray and stand for Life in front of every PPFA across the nation. Many of the PPFA centers are shuttering their doors (Hallelujah), but many remain open, especially in blue states like California. Also consider that the hostile Franchise Tax Boards will attempt to destroy the funding of these Life centers, so they need shoring up financially now more than ever.
Petition Your Local Legislature to Support Life and Restrict Death
This was how the wall of Roe was eroded in many of the red states. For the pro-life voters who live in the bastions of progressive governance ignorance, that hold abortion as a sacrament, we need to make our voices heard. In California this past April, the lawmakers trying to push through AB 2223, the “Infanticide Bill,” were confronted with a huge protest by pro-life organizations and pro-life citizens, pushing the issue to the forefront, and forcing the lawmakers drafting this egregious piece of legislation to amend the bill. Activists and citizens are still working to stop its passage, but that requires those who stand for Life to make their voices heard and not assume that the work is done.
Foster and Adopt
This cannot be understated. There are many babies and children in this country who need to be loved, supported, and shaped in a loving home. We best counter the Left’s accusation that we care about the baby until it’s born by promoting and participating in seeing mothers and children supported at every stage of Life.
