Gavin Newsom Goes Full Metal Dictator; He's Still Getting Recalled

Way to try and ruin my spa vacation, Hair Gel.

Not today, Satan!!!!!

From KTLA:

Most of California’s coronavirus restrictions on businesses and public gatherings will end June 15. But Gov. Gavin Newsom said Friday that he’s not ready to give up the broad powers he has to impose those rules, saying he will keep a statewide state of emergency declaration in place.

Newsom first declared a state of emergency on March 4, 2020. He has the power to do that under the California Emergency Services Act, a series of state laws designed to help the government act quickly in times of crisis.

This comes as no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention. Newsom was drunk on power from Day 1 of this pandemic when he rushed to be the first to impose, “15 Days to Slow the Spread,” then proudly went on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow show to declare that this pandemic was an “opportunity for reimagining a more progressive era.”

He may have reimagined a more “progressive era”; California citizens reimagined a State without this man at the helm. This is why he’s being Recalled.

But, tone deaf is as tone deaf does, and I suspect that this is part of how Hair Gel is being counseled. The Governor is deluded as well as in-nuded—his naked disregard for what we think or feel as citizens gets increasingly evident.

Internal poll numbers are probably showing that people are happy to be vaccinated, and he’s done enough “partial opening” to lull people into a sense of normalcy.

Newsom is also being advised that those evil Republicans who are opposing the governor don’t want to be here anyway; so, let’s give them more reason to leave. Once they do, then we’ll approve a date for the Recall election, and you’ll have no worries. Only the people who love you and are grateful you’ve saved California will remain, and the effort will be defeated.

This man and his team of advisors are bleeping idiots, not to mention craven.

The declaration means California can be reimbursed from the federal government for many of its pandemic-related expenses. But it also gives Newsom authority to suspend state laws and impose new rules. Since declaring this emergency, Newsom has issued at least 58 executive orders to alter or suspend hundreds of laws because of the virus.

Those included suspending a law requiring employers to post notices in the breakroom because everyone was working from home. He altered public meetings laws to let local governments and the state parole board meet remotely.

Newsom wants the federal gravy train to continue, with the pandemic unemployment insurance bumps, the vaccine distribution dollars, so he can continue his bread and circuses lotteries, and funding to the California Teachers Unions to continue to keep your child’s education in perpetual free-fall. If Hair Gel still maintains his emergency powers, these are dollars he gets to dole out as he sees fit; after all, if he deems it an emergency, then he, and only he knows how to address it. See how that works?

His Hairfulness giveth. His Hairfulness taketh away. Blessed be.

Friday, Newsom reiterated his commitment to lifting most coronavirus restrictions on June 15. But he noted variants of the virus are still spreading that, combined with varying vaccination rates in other states and countries, could require him to issue new restrictions in the future.

“The one thing I am certain of is: There’s uncertainty in the future,” Newsom told reporters.

When is there not uncertainty in the future? That’s the very definition of ‘future’; it is unknown. The Orwellian doublespeak is even more egregious because he is presumptively saying he knows what’s best for the citizens of California. Because the future is uncertain, I need to keep emergency powers so I can mitigate that uncertainty. It’s pure circular logic.

“The emergency remains in effect after June 15 because we’re still in a state of emergency. This disease has not been extinguished. It’s not vanished; it’s not taking the summer months off,” Newsom said.

California is a state of roughly 39 million people.

Today’s report on the California Coronavirus dashboard:

  • 2.1 new cases per 100,000
  • 0.05 deaths per 100,000
  • 0.9 positivity rates per 100,000
  • Over 38 million vaccines distributed

The disease may not be extinguished or vanished, but these numbers are no indication that we are in a state of emergency either. But such is the depth of Hair Gel’s ability to gaslight and obfuscate, and he does it with everything related to the State.

Assemblyman Kevin Kiley wrote in his Capitol Quagmire blog:

Yesterday, Gavin Newsom blasted out a bewildering claim. He tweeted that California created “nearly 40%” of all new jobs “in the NATION” last month.

It was fake news. The true “unadjusted” figure is 14 percent. The jobs report actually paints a dismal picture for California: Our unemployment rate is worse than every state but Hawaii and isn’t improving.

Yet that didn’t stop the Governor from gloating we are “leading the nation’s economic recovery.” The Legislative Analyst also just caught him overstating the surplus by a paltry $38 billion. Welcome to Gavin Newsom’s Potemkin Village.

It’s like in Animal Farm, when the pig-ruler Napoleon tries to make his starving farm look prosperous by filling up the food bins with sand, adding grain only at the very top.

We are chewing on sand, people, and Newsom is trying to fool you into thinking it’s some new, healthier grain.

He’s confident that an earlier Recall vote will turn in his favor. Let’s show America what working across the aisle really looks like, and show this man the door.
